After the binge quick and dirty onion soup Recipe
This is done when I want soup, quick and don’t want a canned anything
- 1/2 onions
- butter, cooking oil, olive oil - just enough to brown the onions
- any kind of soup stock with salt to taste, or bullion cube of any variety - beef is best, but chicken or vegetable will work.
- garlic, clove, powdered, whatever you have - 1tbl spoon
- black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Celery with leaf, carrots, peppers anything left in the fridge - chopped - 1/2 to 1 cup
- any wine you have leftover from last nights binge - up to a cup
- heat the cooking oil and slice the onion into 1/4 to 1/2 inch slices. If you have fresh garlic add that minced now–cook in a soup pan until just translucent. Add wine.
- Add bullion or stock and salt to taste, add water to make one quart of soup. Bring to a boil.
- Add Veggies and simmer 5 minutes–serve–makes 4 bowls of not from the can pretty rich and hearty soup.

whose voting for this? i was shocked when i tried the recipe - shocked badly. but i love onions though.
it is a fine meal .
I will make one more comment - this was written after a binge and there were mistakes and I was unsure how to edit the recipe. The 2 onions was suppose to be 1/2 onion and the reality is I would have drunk all the chardonnay and been left with either a red (merlot) or what might have not been drunk - a white light cooking wine.
I agree, but I wondered why the number kept going up and I wasn't the one! I was actually not even voting for a while and was surprised when it kept going up into the top list!!!!!!!!!!
I am thinking there is voter fraud, I bet there is not even 4000 chow hounders out there. Someone please fix the multiple voting error.
