Orange Frothy
Every Sunday morning my father would blend freshly squeezed orange juice with ice to make us frothies to accompany our breakfast. The addition of vanilla and honey makes it slightly sweeter, and irresistible.
What to buy: We juiced Valencia oranges to make this drink and loved their sweet, fragrant flavor.
Game plan: For a slacker solution, you can use good store-bought orange juice such as Odwalla.
This recipe was featured as part of our Winter Cabin Fever story.
- 2 cups chilled freshly squeezed orange juice (from about 10 medium oranges)
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups ice
- Combine orange juice, honey, and vanilla in a blender and blend until well combined and foamy, about 30 seconds.
- Add ice and continue to blend until ice is broken up and mixture is frothy, about 30 seconds more. Serve immediately.

This looks SO good! What a "pick-me-up" for breakfast! A must try for me ~
I love the flavour of orange. The touch of honey and vanilla make sound even better
Interesting, but a bit light on orange flavor, which makes sense given that after adding the ice and air, you have diluted the orange juice by more than half. Tried adding a tablespoon of frozen concentrate with the ice and that seemed to help. Could probably stand a little more or perhaps some orange zest.
I just made this, and PommeDeGuerre, you're right, a little bit of orange zest was a nice addition to an already tasty recipe. I put a little cinnamon and palm sugar in it too, but then I add those to everything since they make everything taste better for me!
I loved this with fresh squeezed orange juice, so I tried it with regular store bought grapefruit juice, and it was delicious.
