Candied Orange Rind<>
Turning Garbage into Holiday Sweets<>
Strip Rind from any number of oranges.<>
- Rind from Watermelon, Lemon or Orange
- Chocolate (optional)
- Strip rind from any number of oranges.<>
Cover with water, weight down and place in refrigerator overnight.<>
Scrape out all white, discard. <> Save water. <>
Cover with more water, simmer 2 hours, drain.<>
Add 2 cups sugar and FIRST water after boiling it down, cook 1 hour, drain off syrup. <>
Spread and dry in 250 degree oven for 1 hour
- <>Note: You can use any citrus fruit. Grapefruit & Lemon work wonderfully.
- <>We always have batches on hand around Christmas.
