AVOCADO’s CREAM (fast and easy, not to mention DELICIOUS) Recipe

In Brazil, people use avocados MOSTLY to eat them as a dessert. This is no guacamole land. Our fruits are large ones; they may weigh up to 2 pounds, so one avocado can provide a good creamy and rich portion for four or five people. It is loaded with calories but clinical feeding studies in humans have shown that avocado oil can reduce blood cholesterol. That is a perfect excuse to enjoy this delicious dessert!

INGREDIENTS
  • Avocados (one or more)
  • Lemon juice & grated lemon peel
  • Plain milk or Vanilla ice-cream
  • Sugar or powdered sweetener
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Cut ripe avocados (buttery texture) in half, remove the pit in each one (and reserve one for later use) and place the pulp in the blender.
  2. Add sugar (or sweetener), lemon juice and milk OR vanilla ice cream “to taste”. Blend well, until it becomes very smooth and creamy.
  3. Place this mixture in a bowl (or back in the empty skin halves) and sprinkle it with the grated lemon peel. One pit is placed back in this mixture, to keep it from turning blackish-green, maintaining it looking fresh and light green. Keep it refrigerated until is served.
  4. Suggestion: do not add exotic ingredients. Part of the beauty & great taste lies in the simplicity of this dessert. SIMPLICITY IS GOOD!

  • Yes -- I used to drink this quite often in Brazil. We made it with rapadura -- not sugar. Well - rapadura is a natural sugar cane product --- comes in brick form. Very tasty -- and healthier than sugar. Very common in Brazil. The avocado shake is delicious!

  • Avocado (sweet) 'smoothies', with or without boba, have been a featured drink in many Vietnamese restaurants here in Southern California for years. They're great!

  • I've been drinking avocado milkshakes for years. Same idea, but half an avocado, a squeeze of lemon, a little honey if needed, and enough skim milk to bring it to a milkshake consistency. Ice cubes in the summer, none if it's cold out. Delicious, and filling!
