Butter Tart Filling Recipe
Another of my mother’s holiday favorites. Can’t have Christmas without butter tarts.
Use your favourite pastry recipe to make tart shells or use this filling on frozen shells.
- 1/3 cup Butter
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 tbsp Cream
- 1/2 cup Currants
- 1 Egg - lightly beaten
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- Preheat oven to 450
- Beat all ingredients together
- Fill tart shells 2/3 full. No more than 2/3 unless you really like cleaning your oven.
- Bake for 8 minutes at 450 then reduce heat to 350 and bake until fully browned.

i may try it...for my butter tarts i use
1/4 c butter
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c corn syrup
1 tsp real vanilla
1 egg
a pinch of salt
depending if i am energetic or not i use premade tart shells or home made...
into each tart shell goes 1 tsp of chopped walnuts and 1 tsp raisins and enough filling for 2/3 full
bake on one of the upper shelves of your oven at 400 for 15 or 20 minutes
