Poe's Finnish (Yes, it's spelled correctly!) Recipe
I was learning to make martinis with a friend, but I had no vermouth. I did, however, have a bottle of Amontillado sherry. Coupled with Finlandia vodka and citrus, it turned out to be out of this world!
The name, by the way, is an allusion to Poe’s “Cask of the Amontillado” and the country of origin of the vodka.
- Crushed ice
- Generous splash (half a shot/25 mL) of dry Amontillado sherry
- 3 shots/150 mL Finlandia vodka
- Lemon or lime peel
- Fill cocktail shaker with crushed ice
- Add Amontillado, shake, and drain
- Add vodka, shake vigorously, and strain into a martini glass
- Spritz drink by folding peel over the glass
- Garnish with curled peel
