Fat Cat Bar In Chicago carries the Creme de Violette and make several cocktails with in including the Violette Royal
Thanks, I'll look into those. I guess it's been longer than I thought since I made an effort to look for it.
Try Morrell Wine in midtown - it's on their website and also available for mailorder. Maybe also Columbus Circle W&S or Crush.
Punchbowl, any thoughts about specifics? I'm in NYC and have called just about every conceivable place that might have it - it's not even listed in the distributors books here. But I do agree, syrups would definitely not work in cocktails though they might be a decent substitute in more, dare I say, "girlie" drinks. ;)
You can find Creme de Violette in most major cities (New York, Chicago, San Francisco, etc.,.). If no success, I'd try other premium liqueurs before switching to syrups, which add far too much sweetness IMO.
MikeG. In case you haven't found Violet liqueur yet, here's a source...I just ordered a few flavors online, myself. There are lots of flavors to choose from.

Any thoughts about finding (any!) violet liqueur in the US?
