Almond Butter Hot Chocolate Recipe

Almond Butter Hot Chocolate
Difficulty: Easy | Total Time: | Makes: 2 drinks

Once you’ve committed to drinking a rich hot chocolate, you might as well go all the way and add some almond butter. This version is reminiscent of a melted peanut butter cup (except with almond flavor)—you won’t be needing dessert afterward.

What to buy: For this recipe, use high-end chocolate, such as El Rey 41 percent milk chocolate.

Almond butter can be found in health food stores and high-end groceries. If you can’t find it, substitute good-quality, natural peanut butter.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 5 ounces good-quality milk chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Combine the milk and cream in a small saucepan over medium heat and cook until simmering, about 4 minutes.
  2. Add the chocolate and whisk until completely melted, about 2 minutes. Add the almond butter and whisk until incorporated. Serve immediately.

So, if you add creamy pure peanut butter instead of almond butter = instant melted Reese's. Thanks for the idea.
