This was a semifinalist in the CHOW Cocktail Square Off, a cocktail recipe contest copresented with Square One Organic Vodka and Om Organics.

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 to 3 fresh organic figs
  • 1/2 ounce St-Germain elderflower liqueur
  • 2 ounces Square One Organic Vodka
  • 1 ounce fresh-squeezed organic lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce raw organic agave syrup to taste
  • Fresh organic mint, leaf garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Muddle diced fig in the elderflower liqueur (reserve one slice for garnish). Add cracked ice, vodka, lemon juice, and agave syrup. Shake vigorously. Slap one mint leaf, rim and drop in chilled cocktail glass along with reserved fig slice. Strain cocktail into glass.

  • No, it's not the color you see in the photo, but it's pretty nonetheless. It comes out a nice, light pink. I don't mind the seeds. The best thing about the drink is that the fig, ice and alcohol combine to make a thick, slightly gelatinous concoction. It's my new favorite seasonal drink.

  • Do Mission figs really turn a drink the color of the drink in the photo above? Hard to believe, but beautiful if it's true!

  • This was amazing when I tasted it for the Square Off competition. it's helpful to double strain it though unless you like a seedy drink. Yum!
