Kalimotxo Recipe
This simple cocktail hails from the Basque Country, hence the crazy spelling. In the rest of Spain it’s known as the Calimocho or the Kalimocho. It’s often made right in a Coke bottle that’s half filled with cola—simply replace the missing soda with red wine.
- Red wine
- Cola, such as Coca-Cola
Cold? Warm? Which is best or maybe I should just give it a go... lol
Every culture mixes coke with their local hooch.
Worst is probably the colaweizen.
I studied abroad in Spain, and ever since I came back to the States, no one believes me that this is a popular drink! Thank you Chow.com, thank you :)
at SF's Bocadillo's it's served with a garnish of orange slice, and the fruit juice is a great addition; instant sangria
it's usually best with the cheaper stuff, anyway
I was given this drink as a child at family seders. Probably it was more cola than wine, but I remember liking it a lot. I wonder if the recipe is better with certain types of red?
