Cinnamon sugar is simply that: a mixture of ground cinnamon and sugar that can be sprinkled on buttered toast, Mexican sopapillas (fried dough) and buñuelos (batter fritters), German snickerdoodle cookies, French toast, and coffee cake.

Instructions

  1. 1Combine 1/2 cup sugar with 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon. Use true (soft-stick) cinnamon for mild, aromatic flavor; use cassia cinnamon for bolder, spicier flavor. Or crush 1 cinnamon stick and grind in a spice grinder with 1/4 cup sugar until a fine powder is formed, then mix in 1/4 cup more sugar.
