Nick Mautone
This recipe from author and former Gramercy Tavern managing partner Nick Mautone is a blend of Grand Marnier and iced tea that creates a perfect afternoon cooler.
Game plan: The iced tea can be made up to 8 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 small orange
- 4 teaspoons sugar
- 4 cups Basic Iced Tea
- 1 cup Grand Marnier
- Ice
INSTRUCTIONS
- Using a zester, cut as many long strips of zest from orange as you can and set aside. Cut off remaining white pith from orange. Cut fruit into 8 pieces and place in a small bowl.
- Sprinkle sugar over orange pieces and muddle or mash well. Divide orange mixture among 4 iced tea glasses. Add 1/4 cup of Grand Marnier to each glass and stir well.
- Fill each glass halfway with ice. Divide reserved zest among the glasses, then fill the rest of the way with ice. Fill the glasses with iced tea and serve.
