<long_description>With Scotch, vermouth, and Bénédictine.</long_description>
 <introduction>

Blended Scotch and Irish whiskey have established themselves in numerous prominent cocktails, but they are less favored by bartenders for mixing cocktails than are American whiskies. Single-malt Scotch is much more smoky, and dyed-in-the-tartan single-malt drinkers have little time or patience with any divergence from tradition. Asked if they would like ice with their potent potable, they may irritably grumble that they are not in the mood for a mixed drink. Gary Regan, however, has flown in the face of tradition and blended single-malt cocktails.
