Gin and It Recipe

Difficulty: Easy | Makes: 1 drink

This is generally served without ice, but you may want to use ice-cold gin.

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 ounces gin
  • 1 ounce sweet vermouth
  • Dash of bitters
  • Twist of orange peel
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Stir the gin, vermouth, and bitters in a cocktail glass, and garnish with orange peel.

Variations

Gin and French: Substitute French vermouth for the sweet vermouth.

  • The bitters are optional. Good Vermouth is fairly bitter. Try it with Campari (probably the most bitter red vermouth) Chinato is even better but more expensive.

  • no, it's a martini. what's more, it's a classic martini. originally a 'dry' martini was specified as such because it contained dry vermouth not sweet. it had nothing to do with amount of gin. aside from the orange peel, this is a classic martini, through and through.
