From: Field Guide to Cocktails , by Rob Chirico
With rye, maraschino, and Amer Picon, this classic cocktail is worth reviving.
- 2 ounces rye or blended whiskey
- 1 ounce dry vermouth
- Dash of maraschino liqueur
- Dash of Amer Picon
- Shake all ingredients well with ice; then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

I think exposing the world to all these cocktails is great. However, it is doomed to failure since no research is going into the availability of ingredients. In other words, good luck in finding Amer Picon since it is not exported to the US....
Agreed. Amer Picon has also changed its formula significantly over the past 30 years, so even if you could get a bottle the recipe wouldn't taste like a traditional Brooklyn cocktail. Torani Amer is a pretty good substitute for the original Amer Picon and is readily available online.
Little Branch on 7th Avenue makes a Brooklyn cocktail that is terrific. Any chance you could post their version?
