Lillet Cocktail Recipe
Apéritif cocktails are blends of wine, spirits, and liqueurs that are served generally before, but sometimes after, dinner. The cocktail may often be taken for granted, but the apéritif rarely is. Put the two together, and you have a sublime combination that beckons the appetizer tray. Whatever the ingredients, an apéritif is a light alcoholic beverage meant to stimulate the appetite, the conversation, and the mind. The soul of the apéritif is a mix of conviviality and reflection.
- 1 1/2 ounces Lillet Blanc
- 1 ounce gin
- Twist of lemon peel
- Stir the Lillet and gin in a pitcher half full of ice, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon peel.

favourite tipple of hannibal lecter-ultimate sybarite-but a bit sickly for my taste
I had a drink in New Orleans at tales of the Cocktail that used G'vine gin, which has a grape base as well as grain, and it was mixed with St. Germain, an elderflower liqueur, in equal parts. It was a nice "twist" on the above. -Rob
This sounds a little like a drink I had at The Settlers Inn in the Poconos last February. They called it a French martini- I absolutely loved it. they said it was French vodka made from grapes (Ciroc) and Lillet. I bought some Lillet but havent found the vodka and am not sure of the proportions - anybody know anything about this drink??
