Countertop material: granite vs. solid surface (corian) vs. engineered stone (silestone)

I feel the same way - you have to be careful with any counter top material.
I too have corian countertop with the continuous sink - all in one which I love.
Thanks for the idea about the wooden cutting board to keep nearby.

Cleaning INSIDE the two panels of glass on Viking oven door

I would call the company. Maybe a tech person could walk you through it.
Also, when I bought my new range, I was told to be careful when cleaning - not to let any water get in the vents.

Countertop material: granite vs. solid surface (corian) vs. engineered stone (silestone)

Hi Chowter
I have had my corian for about 5 years now and I love it. No burnt marks - no scratches - no water marks - very easy to take care of - I would have nothing but Corian.
I have the continuous counter to sink - so very nice.

Iced Tea Recipe with lemons and sugar

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I tried several versions and found this to be the best:

Boil 1 quart water.
Steep 8 tea bags for about 5 minutes.
Remove tea bags.
Add 1 cup sugar.
Let cool.
Add one quart of cold water.
Stir in juice of one lemon.
If anyone tries this recipe, let me know how you like it.

Iced Tea Recipe with lemons and sugar

I am looking for the basic old-fashioned iced tea recipe using the small teabags, sugar and real lemons.
Can anyone give me the exact amounts of water, small tea bags, lemon and sugar - and directions.
Thanks for your help.

Herb Bread Sticks

Looking for ideas for combination of herbs for savory herb bread sticks.

What combination of herbs do you use on your bread sticks?

I was thinking of thyme, rosemary, parsley and brush the breadsticks with olive oil.

The best thing your school cafeteria served

Tuna fish sandwich with celery. Our school had the best glazed donuts - donuts and a coke for lunch sometimes - we would be bouncing off the ceiling for the afternoon.

Corian - can I make this shiney

I love the corian countertop and the sink. It is a continuous piece. The countertop is a dark granite color and the sink is a vanilla color. Never stains and is so easy to take care of. I am happy that I did not get the granite. It would be nice to have more shine but that is ok.

Outdoor electric grill

Can anyone recommend an outdoor tabletop electric grill that cooks enough for 4-6 people.
I don't want one that is on a stand because I have no storage.
If anyone has one - are you happy with the cooking results and are they easy to clean, etc.
Thanks.

Horseradish

So if I buy fresh horseradish, I can grind it and add a little vinegar and salt. Can this then be frozen in ziplock bags?

Also, can the piece of fresh horseradish be kept in the freezer until I am ready to use it?

Help!!! How to Grill Spare Ribs

What is the recipe for the dry rub you use for the spare ribs?

Horseradish

The horseradish I buy in the small jar does have vinegar in it. After a few months, it just has a slightly bad smell, it might still be ok, but I am not sure. Thanks for the postings. I think I will buy the fresh root and peel the outside and then put it in the blender as someone has suggested - sounds like a good idea and easy. We use cocktail sauce all the time with fish and shrimp which we eat all the time. If I make my own cocktail sauce, do I just add a little vinegar and salt?

Horseradish

Whenever I buy horseradish in the jar, it goes bad very quickly in the refrigerator.
I would like to buy fresh horseradish, but I am not sure how to store it or how to grind it to make cocktail sauce. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

14 inch deep base kitchen cabinets

I need base cabinets that can only be 14 inches deep.

I was thinking of buying unfinished wall cabinets (to use as the base cabinets) and then making the 4 inch high platform to put under the cabinets to raise them up.

Just wanted some opinions on this and how would I build the platform to support the cabinets?

Countertop material: granite vs. solid surface (corian) vs. engineered stone (silestone)

We have had Corian for over a year now and just love it. Have never had a problem with scratches - it is much improved from what was installed years ago.
It never stains, does not require sealing and cleans so easily

Corian - can I make this shiney

What can I put on my Corian counter top to add a little shine - I think it is very dull looking?
