Please help us have the greatest lunches at these cruise stops.

Split and Montenegro

On a cruise, we have one lunch in each Split and Montenegro. Surprise: we are looking for the ultimate meal based on what is locally best.

PR Resto Near SJ Airport

Looking for a great mid-level resto near SJ/PR airport that I remember as having great food and no ambience. Began with a C?

Elba Restaurant Recs Needed

Thanks, Piero. Good advice. We always fared well asking employees at our hotels where they eat when they want to eat really well. You get very different recs than you do from a concierge.

Elba Restaurant Recs Needed

Thanks for the recommendations. I have been to Italy every year for over 20 years but never to Elba and am surprised that it has so thoroughly escaped the attention of (at least American) tourists. That should be good but could be frustrating, not being able to find too many well vetted restauants. Let me know if you know any good sources. Not unexpectedly, you have been the only response to my post. Thanks.

Elba Restaurant Recs Needed

The usual cravings: great food and great wine, cheap or break-the-bank. A view and/or some charm wouldn't hurt either. Thanks!

Mumbai Restaurants Needed

I had very good meals at Khyber and Konkan but nothing compared to the three dishes I had at Trishna. I worked with the head waiter to have unique preparations of their specialties, letting him know that I had no problem with heat. He served me three of the best seafood dishes I have ever had, building from somewhat hot to more hot to hot: pomfret Hyderabadi tikka; king crab out of the shell with butter, pepper, garlic, and (specially added) chopped green chili; and prawn masala (with specially added tea). Each dish was served with just the right bread or rice. I was blown away. And I even really enjoyed an Indian chardonnay (2006 Chat Indage Chantilli) for about $25. I can't wait to go back and confront the challenge of ordering exactly the same dishes or exploring the lengthy menu further. Thanks to everybody and every guide that pointed me towards Trishna!

Mumbai Restaurants Needed

Wow! What a valuable and on-the-mark reply!. Thank you!

Mumbai Restaurants Needed

I need to know what not to miss in Mumbai restaurants from fantastic local to break-the-bank (but nothing not Indian, please). Wine/beer service is a must. I only have four nights to get to the best. Thanks!

CA north coast dining: Ferndale to Santa Rosa?

Thanks, all. Groves sounds great.

CA north coast dining: Ferndale to Santa Rosa?

I'm looking for a fine Sunday meal on the road south from Ferndale to Santa Rosa.

Negril, Jamaica

I was just reminded that the Red Stripe snack bar at the MoBay airport had perhaps the best jerk chicken of all. Or maybe it was just a matter of very low expectations.

Negril, Jamaica

Thanks, Irie Eyes. Rockhouse was a great stay but a disappointing dinner (good menu, poor execution). Norma's was good as were Kuyaba and Xtabi. Sonia's patties were great. For a dive, we liked the food at Serious Chicken but weren't as enthused by Chicken Lavish as others reported. Other competitors for best jerk were Bourbon Beach (grilled over wood) and Three Dives (but their wierd and unpredictable hours made timing a meal difficult).

Negril, Jamaica

Thanks, Husky. The place looks great.

Provence

Thanks for all the advice. I'll probably do a couple M stars and a couple of your bistros and then walk at least part of the way to Avignon to shed the extra weight. We're staying at the Sofitel Royal. I think it's the one that's affiliated with Bocuse.

Provence

Thank you, ChefJune. All three are nicely written up in Michelin (no stars). GM gives both Fourchette and Hiely toques (13). Any suggestions for Lyon other than to stay a month? The choices are overwhelming. Is $200-250 for two with wine a price that will wow us if the fanciness of the decor and formality of the service are not important?

Negril, Jamaica

Any recommendations for great local food, high end or low?

Provence

I will be traveling from Lyon to Avignon to Aix-en-Provence to Marseilles in late April. I will do Michelin stars and GM toques half my meals but need the names of those great finds that the locals (and Chowhounds) swear by - great food and wine at fair prices in charming but not fancy digs. Thanks for any help!

Late Dinner in Paris

For dinner in Paris at 11:00-11:30pm, I have found Chez Michael, Le Villaret, Bistrot Baracane, Garnier, and Ramulaud (sort of in that order of temporary preference). For me, food trumps ambience and service big-time. Any recommendations pro or con?

Paris Mid-Afternoon Dining?

It looks like the choices are between brasseries and brasseries. Most seem to have lots of ambience and mediocre food. All I care about is food. Suggestions to date have included Lipp, Le Congres, L'Alsace, La Lorraine, Flo, Ballon des Ternes, Terminus Nord, Au Petit Riche, Marty, Mollard, Le Vaudeville, Pied de Cochon, Balzar, and Chez Jenny. Can any one recommend the food at any one of these? Or recommend to stay away?

What is the best restaurant within a 20-minute taxi ride of Charles DeGaulle airport?

Paris Mid-Afternoon Dining?

Does any good Paris restaurant serve between 4 and 7:00pm on a Tuesday?
