Disagree with your beer on tap remark. I'm not sure how "not" having beer on tap would create or complete an ambiance. A wide selection of beer is a plus in my opinion for a restaurant. Especially one with this type of food.

"Stuffed" ----Cajun Meat Market

I live right down the street on Great Valley. Seriously....the thing that excites me the most is that that tacky god-awful "American Foodmart" sign will be finally gone...........it's such an eyesore.

Loved the art..........loved the atmosphere......loved the "no kids allowed".......sweet booths................but, the food was only so-so and no beer on tap.

Vivo 620

Our experience at the new Vivo was excellent. The atmosphere was freaking awesome! You've got to see this place.

It's 18 and over so don't bring the kids. The art is wonderful. I'm just so blown away by the ambiance.............had to post......

Go there!

Taste or Mulberry Wine Bar..

Went to Mulberry yesterday. Just want to say one thing. The food presentation was awful. I have never seen anything like it.

The crostini with pear and goat cheese.....delicious.....but the way it was layed? Ugh. White plate, white toast, white pears, white goat cheese....no added color at all. Nary a sprig of this or that. Very strange.

The tomato on toast, really yummy......but again.....the ugliest dish i've ever seen.
The thinly sliced tomato was a sick pink color, almost like shaved flesh (sorry) layed out on a ciabatta toast. Again, no sprigs of greenery. We all sort of said "eeeewwww"....But it was good.

The risotto, was rich and creamy, but they served in a big white bowl.....and it had this brown grey color like oatmeal........again the table cries "eeeeeeewwwwwww".....but it was good.

Color means everything to me in a dish. Maybe i'm just weird.........

Fish City Grill/Hill Country Galleria

I know, it's a chain.....but i just wanted to warn everyone not to eat the fish tacos.......they are HORRIBLE!!!! Why did I think they would be like Baja Grill?
I'm not really clear about what was inside these tacos....it looked like regurgitated rice and fish. All mashed together then rolled in a flour tortilla.

And, I sware the rice was from a box. You know, Zataran's or something similar.

I was so disgusted.

Actually, it's 6 hours later, and i'm still disgusted.

Oh, and don't think for a second that i picked this spot to eat..........not my doing..........

Nino's Pizza 'A Little Taste of New York in Texas

We just tried the Nino's Vegetarian and the Spinach Feta.....Both were excellent. We ordered them both well done and the crust was perfect. We absolutely LOVED the Spinach Feta.

Sorry Yaghi's, Nino's has won our love........for now anyway.

Dog friendly cafes

nope, i don't think i caught them at a bad time.......I've been twice......no, three times.....I gave it three trys...........and it was definitely dirty. Every time. Dirt everywhere. In my chair.....on my feet. but hey, I suppose if you're into that .....then you've found your spot. ......... Freddies, to me, is more like eating in a dog kennel than at a restaurant. I sware.....isn't the patio just uh....dirt? (yeah...sorta like Polvo's patio is uh....er.....a parking lot)

Now Opal Divines does the dog thing right nice......i'd go there right now if i could.

Bone appa teet!!!

Freda's Seafood Grille

We went to freda's last night for the first time.

It was rather late, outside of my eating window....so i just had a salad......i sware the dressing was bottled.........

they forgot to bring our bread......everyone else had bread..why didn't we get some......maybe you have to ask. We blew it off.

My husband had the very spicy bourbon pasta. I tasted a small bite and thought it was just okay. Really spicy and over sauced. It had a lot of sausage.........and 4 shrimp layed out on top.

Also, I thought the prices were waaaaay too high. 17.50 for a bowl of bourbon pasta.......mabye it's just me.......being a poor artist and all.............but geeeez.

The nice part was the piano guy.....he was very good and it was nice having it in the background. The bar looked nice and we'll probably sit in there next time and just have an appetizer. (If we go back) The whole building design was pretty cool. It had a really nice feel inside.

But the food............and the price..............probably won't go there to eat a meal again.

Natto

I'm predicting Zero responses for this one.

But you never know..........Perhaps there are some Natto nuts out there that can help me find some in Austin. I bet they don't serve it at many restaurants. It's a fermented gooey soybean concoction. The Japanese eat it. Well, not all Japanese......but that's where it originated.

I'm thinking i may have to trek out to the Asian Market. But was looking for input......if there is any........

I'm new to Natto and into Vitamin K2.

Thanks!

Dog friendly cafes

I went to Freddies........it's filthy.........i couldn't wait to leave.........dogs panting under tables......kids running around yelling........The food was not good enough to make me go back. I don't even remember what I had.

So, I vote this the worst dog friendly place........in case anyone cares.

ghandi bazar

verily,
all i see now is Ghandi Bazaar. But there are empty stores on either side. It's a new strip center.

Inside, there is a whole slew of refrigerators on one wall....... :-) ..................but don't see Curry in a Hurry.
I'm very excited!
Well, as excited as one can get in cedar park in the summer.

i'm a little suspicious of Austin Chronicle's "best of" picks.......i won't go into detail.......let's just say i've heard some things.

But okay, i'll pass along the Arby's suggestion.

El Chile Coming to Northwest Hills

we went last night. very bland. i had the vegetarian tacos, my husband the fish tacos. we left very disappointed.

the patio is too small. i hate when tables are put on the sidewalk. the inside looked nice but we ate outside. our table was very very wobbly. that pretty much ruined it for me.....as i am really into the environment as well as the food.

my food was so horribly bland.....i couldn't bear to eat it. didn't complain though. there were no patrons......the staff was already bummed out.

maybe it's still too early to expect much from the Greystone El Chile.

we won't go back. the patio at the Manor location is so worth the extra mile or two.

The limeade was very good.......btw..............
