Best ethnic restaurants in San Diego? (La Fachada) |
Silver Spigot, anyone? |
San Diego Restaurant Supply has a design dept that's geared towards commercial but may do residential. Give 'em a call. |

Where are some good offal dishes? I've eaten there twice and loved it both times, am particularly fond of his head cheese and the lardo. However, it's named Incanto and it belongs to Chris Cosentino. It's the so-called "Leg of Beast" extravaganzas that focus on the more bizarre or rarely used animal parts. Interesting place, wish we had something like it down here - save me the plane fare and hotel bill. |

Best Posole in CV is at Pozoleria Dona Maria. Jalisco-style white maciza or surtido. Also, try the pig's feet tostadas - epic! |

Carne Asada Burrito - San Diego Dish of the Month - March 2013 Edition You'll find the shredded meat used in machaca to be quite common - usually from Argentina - but I can't imagine carne asada coming from a can and have never seen such a thing. |

SD Chef Family Tree Graphic - UT Thank you for that. |

SD Chef Family Tree Graphic - UT Maybe they want to make good food, Ipse? I'm curious if the food is good at Spike Africa's, perhaps you've tried it? |

Feb. 2013 Dish of the Month - CHILE RELLENO Every Chile Relleno I've had from SC has been superb for that type of Relleno and that one looks identical to what I've had. The sauce, thin and tomatoey; the batter light, pillowy and nicely risen: the poblano chile obviously hand charred and skinned with a decided crispness to it; the cheese was either Oaxacan or Panele and nicely melted - not an underdone lump. Really, what's your complaint with the SC Relleno? |

Top Five Sandwiches in San Diego Love me: Italian Village sub from Grab'n go - toasted, extra pepperoncini Cobb sandwich from Con Pane - epic Italian sub from Sully's Sandwich Shop on Cass St - They make a great sandwich. Also, just about anything from Mama's Grill - a real gem that needs more business (it's next to Jersey Mike's off Clmt Mesa Blvd). Sandwiches are not only good but immense in size. |

Ran a search and didn't find anything pertinent, but Zion Market is opening a new location at what once was the Sears Essentials building at the corner of Convoy and Clairemont Mesa Blvd next to Kearny Mesa Bowl. This is a huge building with an enormous parking lot so the headache of dealing with the current location will be over. Hopefully they'll open with some restaurants inside a la Ranch 99. In other news, North Park Produce in Clairemont at the corner of Balboa and Clairemont Dr is STILL not open after remodeling for, now, untold months. |

China Quik Wok you mean? |

Thanks for that, DD, good stuff! |

January 2013 Dish of the Month - SOUP Pozole at Pozoleria Dona Maria - it's such a ways but makes it all the more special when we get to visit. The tonkatsu ramen at Yamadaya - ate there last night and, again, am blown away at the porky, silky richness of the broth. Best soup in town? My wife's... |
Sab E Lee - Black Mountain Rd Outpost The new place is attached to the Linda Vista location and has nothing to do with Coby's Santee store. |
You can get whole suckling pig at Sam Woo's in the Ranch99 complex or you can get it at Seiu Seiu BBQ off Clairemont Mesa Blvd. |

ONE night in SD - what would you do? If money is indeed no concern, check into staying at the La Valencia Hotel or the Colonial Inn. Both are in the "village" of La Jolla and a quick walk to stunning ocean views and some pretty good food and, of course, good cocktailing. |

epiphymous??? |

Sab-E-Lee dishes I should order? I have an almost constant craving for the Pork Larb. I really enjoy the Green Papaya Salad, the Raw Beef Salad and Steamed Pork Leg with Rice. My wife loves their soups and the Kai Kua. Love that place! |

Old School Restaurants in San Diego.. CAFE del Rey Moro...once upon a time I had a second job there. |

Pleasure to be helpful. All-in-all it's a spectacular bowl of good stuff, my wife and I consider ourselves very lucky to have it a five minute walk away. |

Yes, Rancho Gordo, best beans around! |

Ramen Yamadaya, a four restaurant group out of LA, has opened a new place in the Diane Shopping Center just a few doors down from Little Sheep. Tonkotsu style is the result of cooking down pork bones for some 20 hours to produce a creamy, hyper-porky broth that is memorable. I've never had Tonkotsu before and this one just set me back on my heels. Spectacular, dense, very rich with what I thought were quite nice straight ramen noodles. I know some of you are quite knowledgeable in Asian cuisines so I thought I'd let you know this is around in case you hadn't heard already. The place itself is a bit of a shoestring production with no A/C but has outside seating and if it's crowded there's a self-sign waiting list out front. Also, it's closed between 3pm and 5pm. Really good stuff! |

Any mag that would consider a burrito with fries in it as anything approaching a "best" burrito gets automatically dismissed in my world. |

North Park Produce in Clairemont Most recently a $1 store, the former grocery store in the mini-mall on the northeast corner of Balboa and Clairemont Drive is posted to become a new location for North Park Produce. Good news for Clairemontians! |
Perfectly good grill grade Ahi at Costco Morena...relatively inexpensive. |

You are leaving San Diego forever; where would you eat? Pozole at Pozoleria Dona Maria. Pork Larb at Sab E Lee. Italian sausage sandwich at Pete's Meats. |
