That is hilarious.

Best Chain Breakfast?

I like La Madeleine for breakfast.

What did you have for breakfast today?

A bowl of Quaker granola/almond/raisin cereal with 2% milk, and a large coffee with half+half and sugar.

How to Find a Microwave Oven's Wattage?

Ok, so I stuck my head in the microwave and wrote down the model number. A google search led me to a GE website, which list the watts at 1150. I also discovered via the sticker inside the microwave that it was manufactured in April 2004, which makes sense, because I bought it when I moved into a new place that year.

I still don't understand why they don't display the watts on the oven anywhere. Are they afraid of some kind of lawsuit? Inquiring minds want to know!

How to Find a Microwave Oven's Wattage?

I don't know what the wattage is for my microwave, and I can't seem to find it on the inside label. Is there someplace else I should look? It seems like wattage would be a piece of information that would be displayed prominently on the front of the oven, since cooking times varying based on that number.

What's the best thing you personally can make with white sliced sandwich bread?

Toast.

Frozen Burritos-Do You Eat Them?

I often bring an Amy's burrito for lunch at the office. I put lots of hot sauce on it, and eat it with a fork and knife.

Magnetized Flatware

Thanks everyone for the info. I guess restaurants are trying to cut down on lost flatware with the magnets.

Magnetized Flatware

I had an odd experience while having lunch at Gordon Biersch yesterday. After we ordered, and we were waiting for our food, I was playing with my silverware (I know, bad habit). While I was moving it around on the table I noticed that the knife would pull the fork with it whenever I moved it. I picked up each piece and separated them, thinking that they had something sticky on them which was keeping them together. After seeing that they were clean I put them back on the table and started pulling the fork around the table with the knife. I showed my lunch companions and they tried it with their flatware, but it didn't work for them using their utensils. We got a kick out of playing with it until the food arrived, at which point we just ate lunch. I did eat with the utensils during lunch.

There's probably a simple explanation for what caused my knife to become a magnet, but I'm not science savvy enough to know the answer.

Has this ever happened to any other Chowhounders? Any idea what caused it? Was it somehow dangerous or unhealthy to eat with the utensils? Should I have mentioned it to the waiter?

Breakfast at Five Guys

I recently had an early flight out of Dulles Airport, and wanted breakfast in the terminal. I've had some pretty bad breakfasts at airports in the past, so I was looking for something different. To my surprise Five Guys was open and offering a breakfast menu.

I had a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and coffee. It was actually pretty good. They made the bacon and eggs fresh for each order, and the cheese was the same as what they use on their cheeseburgers. The only thing I would change would be the bun. They used their hamburger buns, which were a good size, but too soft for a breakfast sandwich, or maybe I'm just used to English muffins.

I'm not sure what kind of coffee they served, but it was good also.

So, if you're ever at Dulles Airport in DC at breakfast time, and don't want the usual microwaved breakfast food, give them a try.

Best wine you've had under $15

I have a glass of Layer Cake Siraz in my hand right now. It's one of my favorites.

What time do you all eat dinner?

Dinner at home is usually 6-6:30. We eat early at restaurants (5:30-6:30) to avoid the crowds. We're usually in bed by 10.

Dining in your vehicle

I never eat in my car. I don't know why, but I just don't like to do it. When on a road trip and stopping at a fast food joint, I will always park the car and eat inside. This has caused some aggravation for my travelling companion(s) who want to keep driving.

I'll admit that I once made a Paula Deen recipe... and liked it!

Food foreigners take back home when they visit America.

My friend from Japan was here last week, and insisted on taking boxes of Cheezits back with her. She wanted a specific flavor (monterey jack maybe?), and we had to go to three stores to find it. I've never liked them, so I had no idea where to find that flavor.

FOOD SO BLAND AT MACARONI GRILL

I agree about the downhill slide. I remember when I first ate there about eleven years ago, I was really impressed by the flavor and quality of the food. A recent meal there left me wondering if it was the same restaurant, it was bland and disappointing.

What to do with a can of chili?

Thanks for all the quick replies! I'll check my pantry when I get home to see which of these great ideas I can make.

10 minute meals

Couscous with tuna and chopped black olives. I've made this in less than 10 minutes.

What to do with a can of chili?

I have a can of Hormel chili (no beans) that I don't know what to do with. I bought two cans with a coupon I had. The first was served on a baked potato with sour cream and jalapenos. It was ok, but I want to do something else this time. I'm not crazy about the taste of it, so any ideas to doctor it up would be helpful. I'm tempted to just donate it to a food bank, but I'm determined to make it edible. Any ideas?

Wearing glasses for the first time...what's up with the fog when eating hot food?

My glasses always fog up when I'm draining pasta into the sink. I can never remember to move my head back before the steam attacks.

Wow - my tastes are really changing as I get older...anyone else?

They now make a dark chocolate peanut butter cup, which is better, but still not perfect.

+1 for the organic bananas. They're smaller, but taste so much better.
