Venice: The Great Binge of '09

Joe: We just returned from 3 nights in Venice, which were all the more memorable thanks to your terrific suggestions. We had incredible meals at Alle Testiere (where I enjoyed probably the best Sea Bass I have ever tasted), Il Rodotto and Il Refolo. Thank you so much for helping to guide us to these culinary highlights.

Venice, Florence, Rome, & Cinque Terre Restaurant Recommendations Needed

We just got back from 2 weeks in Rome, Florence and Venice and here are my only additions to what PBSF and CJT said:
Florence: I highly recommend gelato at Festival Del Gelato on Via Del Corso and the incredible pizzas at Il Pizzaiuolo (Via De Macci 113/r)
Rome: La Trattoria (Via del Pozzo delle Cornacchie, 25) is wonderful. If you can, get a table next to the glass wall of the kitchen and watch them work their magic. We went to Matricinella, but didn't think it was worth all the hype (the food was average and the service was below).
Wherever you go, you are bound to have a wonderful time.

Great meals in Venice thanks to Chowhound

We just returned from a wonderful few days in Venice, made all the better by a few fantastic meals at restaurants we found on Chowhound. I just want to reiterate that dinner at Alle Testiere is not to be missed. The food is superb, the wine list is thoughtful and well-priced and the service is wonderful. Just remember that they only have 2 seatings/night and that there is no place to wait (except outside on the street, where you can make friends with the other anxious diners waiting for a memorable meal). The next night, we dined at Il Ridotto, an incredibly small and yet perfect restaurant. It was delightful to see the staff bring fresh produce and wine in from wherever it is kept nearby, since the kitchen is not much more than you would find in a small, NY apartment. Finally, before our flight, we enjoyed the delicious pizzas at Il Refolo. While it was too cold and windy to sit on the patio, it was still worth searching out.
