Pesach main dish suggestion for vegans?

I was thinking of making a veg. main too because we're having a vegetarian guest over. I am leaning towards making a vegetarian "shepard's pie", don't have an exact recipe but something like mushrooms/and or eggplants + onions sauteed as the "meat" part and topped with mashed potato top as a "crust"... could decorate the top with some roasted peppers and pine nuts....

Reasonably priced, kosher friendly fish? (NYC)

Have you tried to go to China town? (I don't live in NY anymore, we just moved) but as long as you know that the fish is kosher then you can just go to any little fish store that has a larger variety of fish. For example I used to get blue fish for about 2.99 a pound. I recently called the OU to fined out if Texas bass (or something like that) was kosher and they just told me that if you can easily scrape off the scales + it has fins it's a kosher fish. (call the kosher hot line to double check) Also Trader Joes also has some frozen fish fillets that are a bit cheaper than $10 a pound.

Carlos & Gabby's in Cedarhurst

My Dh and I tried it a couple of times a few months after they opened. We also didn't find the food tasty. In fact I found my (shredded beef?) burrito a bit gross. I think that some people like it because it's something new to try (not too many kosher mexican places around). we tried the place twice and were really unimpressed, really nothing special at all. And one time we had to wait for about 30 min to get our food! after that we decided that there are better places (Burger bar for example ) to go to. That said, I think that the prices are good or inexpensive.

Pre-Pesach meat Fest

My husband and I are coming in to NY for pesach from the west coast and we are hoping to arrive a few days before the Chag so that we can eat out at a couple of burger and or Shwarma places . We are going to stay in the 5 towns so I don't think we'll have time to go anywhere too far. Which places would you recommend? I've heard good things about Burger Bar (?) anywhere else that we can check out? TIA!

ISO kosher tamarind paste

You should be able to just use the one you found w/o a hechsher. I do the same it's a basic item that does NOT require it. (--- signed former OU worker. )

REAL Chinese- anywhere???

Since I've never had authentic Chinese food I can't claim that this is the real deal but if you want to head out to the west coast to Seattle we have a orthodox supervised vegan Chinese restaurant here called Bamboo Garden. (I believe that they have a website you can look it up) It is one of my favorite restaurant and the food is amazing. I frequently see Asian families eating there among other nonJews.

Great Neck Recommendations?

I've personally never been to Danny's but my Persian friends rave about the food. I like Kolbeh alot too but it's best to go in the middle of the week to get really great service.

Moishe's Falafel Cart?

I actually think that they are not as good as they used to be a few years ago. Am I imagining this? Does anyone else feel the same way? I can't put my finger on it but somehow I just remember it being tastier and juicier than the last couple of times I visited.

Recommend take out from Gan Asia or another place?

Hi, Is it worth it to try Gan Aisa? My DH and I are going to a movie and I wanted to get us
something quick, good, and hopefully cheap to eat before the movie. Can you recommend
somthing from Gan Asia, or maybe another place in the city?

TIA

Kosher Organic Beef

Does anyone know of any supermarket in Queens/5towns area that sells kosher organic beef? (Brooklyn would also be ok) but our family doesn't use lubavitch shechita so it would have to
be some other hechsher.

thanks in advance
