I've made this for Christmas for a few years. I let it sit for about 2 months. It always gets raves. I like to check the color of the lemon peels, when they are creamy colored and the vodka is pale yellow and smells like lemon, you good to go.
Marin - Dinner for birthday? Good food, festive.
I'd like to add Picco in Larkspur, and AVA in san anselmo. Both are good for more veggie and fish options.

Where to get a great brunch in marin?
Does anyone have a brunch place that they love? It can be anywhere in marin. Somewhere that they serve cocktails would be good. I love the french toast at Fred's but would like somewhere a bit more upscale for when friends come to town. Thanks for your help
SEDONA for lunch- need suggestions for day trip
If it is open Garlands lodge had the best food i've had in sedona. It is located in the oak creek canyon. The food it mostly grown on the property and they have an on site baker, check out the web site. The Enchantment would be my second choice.

This year i am cooking dinner in a kitchen with only two burners and a microwave. I usually do a rib roast and yorkshire pudding. I am thinking crab for dinner but i need help with the rest or an alternate option. I can still do the trifle for desert. Also any appitizers that are cold would help. Thanks.

I try to drink champagne or sparkling as often as possible to remind myself that life is worth celebration. Good friends and good food are often reason enough to celebrate. Live the life you love and love the life you live. ;)
Limoncello/Orange Liqueur
check out webtender.com for recipes. I made lemoncello with vodka which is traditional but you might want to try a silver tequilla. Basically just zest a lot of oranges (no pith) and let it sit in the alcohol for around two months. The more oranges you use the sooner it will be ready. I am infusing vodka with quinces this year and have had fun with other combos. have fun:)

My go to at this time of year is yams sliced into rounds baked with olive oil till soft topped with cream frais and black sea salt. or truffled popcorn. hope that helps :)

What Makes You Consider Eating Soup When It's Hot
a provencial soup aux pistou. lots of veggies and some fresh pesto. I made some yesterday.
It's not rich and dark but for me satisfies me soup cravings.

Thank you for all your replies. It is nice to know I am not the only one with a bad experience. However I do try to give resturants two tries just to be sure. I tend to like simple food done well so I will try again, now I have some insite on what to order. well see

A16 is it me?
Am I the only one that has had a bad experience at A16? I am willing go back and try it again but am having hard time after my dinner there. I had dinner with 4 other hounds and all of us came away with a bad taste in our mouth. The pizza was burnt, dry and had very little flavor. The salasd were tiny and slightly brown. the three shared entrees were bland.The Burrata was the only redeaming factor in the food section. The person who ordered the wine is very knowedable about italian wine so it was not about lack of palate.Our first bottle of wine was corked and the waiter tried to argue with us, when he finally brought another bottle it to was off. The waiter was not apologetic nor very friendly from the beginning. Is this just an off night and I should go back? Or have others had the same experience?

In provence there is a wonderful week or couple day option in Nice or the mountains near there. Check out Tasteofprovence.com It is taught in english and includes some touring. I had a wonderful time and the chef is really friendly.
Looking for a quiet, romantic restaurant in Carmel (wine unimportant)
My husband and I just at at Bouchee and it was wonderful. Try the porc belly if they have it. The food was moderate to high in price but well worth it. The wine list was impressive if a bit steep for us. Have a wonderful time. Also on a side note the otter exibit at the museum is very fun.

I am heading to Emerald Isle and checked the boards regarding resturants and fish markets but can not find any info on a farmers market. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.
In search of vinegar "mother"
I found my mother in one of my vinegar jars, it looks like a cloud in the bottom of the jar. I put that in my jar with the wine I was making vinegar out of and it came out really well.
