Recommendation for Rehearsal Dinner near Old City?

I'm looking for a venue to have the rehearsal dinner (next February) in Old City. My preferences are below:
- private room to hold approx. 30-32
- byob
- GREAT FOOD!
- not modern decor (bride's wishes)

Thanks

Nudy's Cafe - strike three

Haven't been in a few years and I'm very much a breakfast lover. I cannot eat hashbrowns that taste like cardboard. No taste whatsoever! I even loaded with salt & pepper, still lousy! I'm a homefries Irish girl so this place just isn't for me.

Good food near West Chester University

Try Penn's Table for breakfast, it's great!

King of Prussia [Seasons 52]

I've eaten at Seasons 52 twice and what appealed to me most was the taste of the vegetables cooked al dente, they were awesome! I also really enjoyed their tuna, cooked medium rare, excellent!! I will continue to visit and love feeling comfortable after their meals!

Breakfast, brunch, coffee in Exton to King of Prussia area?

Hands down, Penn's Table (has locations in West Chester and Lionville) is my favorite breakfast place. I have to admit I usually get a plain old breakfast (eggs over easy, bacon, homefries & wheat toast) but I love their breakfasts! Especially the homefries which are cut red potatoes. No hashbrowns for this Irish girl! My husband loves their Anthony's omelet. I've been eating breakfast out once a week since my boys left for college (right after my workout at PF) and I've tried most every breakfast place in Chester County.

Vinny's at Chester Springs, bbq?

I'm also interested as I drive by daily. There seems to be more cars in the lot as well; so hopefully that's a good sign.

New Mexican Restaurant in Phoenixville

I realize they just opened the restaurant this week but we were sadly disappointed in our first visit Friday night. We only waited 10 minutes for a hi-top in the bar which was pretty crowded. My DH ordered a Mexican beer and I ordered my usual tequila on the rocks. The patron was tasty but filled not even half a small cocktail glass filled with ice at a cost of $10.00 (for what I thought was no more than a full shot). The chips and three salsa's were good.

DH ordered Enchiladas Mexicana which were tiny but came with beans and rice. I ordered Enchiladas Rojas which were decent. Our major disappointment was that although the plates were hot, the food was lukewarm that became cold by the time you were finished the first half of the dish. We love our food temperature hot (even heat our plates at home) so this was disappointing. We could have sent the food back to be re-heated but it was near impossible to get a hold of our waiter. We added the complimentary salsa's to our food for more flavor as we thought the enchilada sauces were bland.

I thought the rice was very good, moist and flavored with onions. The beans good. The enchiladas should have included more meat for the price! We live within 12 minutes of this restaurant but will continue to go to other favorite mexican restaurants in chester county for the quality and price. However, we will give it another try at a later time.

Pepperoncini Phoenixville

Bacchus 101, the great tv's are in the bar only. The dining room is pleasant without any tv's. If you are looking for great Italian, it's the best in that area by far.

Pepperoncini Phoenixville

We went last Wednesday night and really enjoyed our meal. We started with soups, I had the tomato basil bisque (excellent) and husband had their seafood special soup (he enjoyed but was a little rich for his taste). I ordered a small plate of penne pasta in a blush vodka sauce (excellent) and he ordered a tuna entree (asked to have it barely cooked but it came out medium) which came with a nice salad. The bread and olive oil given complimentary were very good. Their service is excellent and the owner stopped by several times to ask how everything was. Their bar is nicely done with exposed stone, great tv's and great lighting. Will definitely be back because I want to try lots of items on their menu!

West Chester hidden lunch treasures?

I'm working in West Chester and looking for some great lunches at reasonable prices. Salads, sandwiches, anything other than fast food.

Where to find ground bison meat?

You can find ground buffalo at the Phoenixville Farmers Market on Saturdays between 9 & 1. I tried it for a gourmet burger and it was terrific!

Chester Springs Dining Recs?

Welcome to the neighborhood, mddletown! We've been in Chester Springs for 25 years and have seen lots of changes in restaurants over the years. I love to cook so we stay home for great dinners but go out mostly for drinks and appetizers so I can't recommend any fine dining restaurants in the area these days, we live down the street from Birchrunville but have not been there in years. Majolica in Phoenixville is very good. We enjoy the Eagle Tavern, Ludwigs, Ron's, & Iron Hill (Phoenixville) for drinks and apps. I like the brick oven pizza at Rocco's on Route 100. For sushi we usually go to Margaret Kuo's in Frazer. There is a very good breakfast / lunch place called Penn's Table in Lionville, food and prices are great. Hope this helps.

White Lily Flour

I also order mine directly from the White Lily Flour website. I use the flour for homemade bisquits. Very light.

Is the sauce sweet or savory? Curious because I want to try it but I don't like sweet sauce like Peace a Pizza.

Donuts at West Chester Food Festival

Their website will tell you how to order their donuts and what events are upcoming for donut sales. Kimberton Fire Company also sells them throughout the year and at their July fair.

scrapple

I've grown up on Habbersetts but would love to try Kolb's since I'm 10 minutes from there. I cook mine in a pre-heated non-stick pan (no oil or shortening) and turn once the first side gets crispy. I never have a problem with sticking. A little ketchup, yum. I have fond memories of my Mom cooking scrapple on cold school mornings while I sat on the radiator heater in our dining room to keep warm. Not sure if its the memories or the great taste but I'm still eating it 40 years later.

Excellent Food in Sellersville

We went to Arielle's Country Inn last evening before going to a show at the Sellersville Theater. We were very happy with our meal and loved the setting in the country. I had the ahi tuna, my husband had the rack of lamb, our guests had the mixed grill and pork tenderloin and everyone was happy with their meal. The salad was extremely fresh and crisp, and the balsamic dressing wonderful. We all agreed to come back again. The only down side was the wait staff. We had a very inexperienced waiter (probably 18 years old if that) who was extremely slow and kept returning to our table to say they were out of our original placed entrees (trout & lamb loin). It's nice to know these things before the order is placed. It's only 8 min or so away from the theater and I highly recommend it. Thanks for the recommendation!

Peddler's Village

I had lunch at Sweet Lorraine's Cafe last week and really enjoyed it. I had the grilled turkey sandwich with a side of cole slaw. Their cole slaw is awesome with blue cheese on top. They also serve homemade potato chips with their sandwiches which I love. Looking forward to returning for their happy hour specials.

Changing Scene in Downingtown

Haven't been to Firecreek but heard good reviews. We did attempt to try Rincon Tarasco last week and waited 30 minutes for the waitress to come back to take our order, couldn't even get a glass of water, and finally left. I really wanted to try their food but the service was the worst I've ever seen anywhere. The young girl needs training and the owner should hire more wait staff.

Searching for Salad

Nowhere near Center City but if you are out in the southern Chester County area you must try Talula's Table. I recently had the best beet salad there. It had red and yellow beets, candied walnuts, mixed greens, croutons. It was awesome!

Lunch near Convention Center?

We (group of 6 of us) walked to Estia for lunch on Tuesday while at the Flower Show. It was a hike, very bitter cold, but well worth the power walk for an excellent Greek lunch. It was my sisters birthday and she is so thankful I picked Estia. I highly recommend it!

Restaurant Equipment Sales in West Chester ?

I think they have Saturday hours in the wintertime but when the weather gets nicer, they are normally closed on Saturdays. I love the heavy duty baking sheets I bought there. I think their prices initially were good but the last couple of times I went in I thought they went up. It is mostly commercial stuff.

Jimmy's BBQ in Malvern/Frazer?

I went on Friday with several co-workers and loved it! We were so full that we wanted to take a nap once we got back to work. I had the pulled pork platter with baked beans and cole slaw. Loved the pulled pork and beans! Cole slaw was good but I like creamier slaw better. Really liked the barbeque sauce too. Jimmy came over to our table and talked a while, very nice guy. I smelled like smoke the rest of the day, but that's the price you pay for good barbeque. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Best tasting canned tomatoes? [moved from Home Cooking board]

I always make my own sauce and have used San Marzano but in trying to save money I've switched to the cheaper Wegmans whole tomatoes and really like them!
I use my immersion blender to liquify. Now I'm hooked on the cheaper Wegmans brand.

Classic Diner really isn't that good.

Who likes eating breakfast from a bowl, unless it's cereal? It was annoying trying to eat eggs from a bowl. (I much prefer a regular plate), just really don't care for the place. Expensive breakfasts and a little too stuffy for me. I prefer the Frazer diner for my once a week breakfast.

Coyote Crossing in WC

There was an article in the Daily Local News a few weeks ago that explained the same owner decided to change to a sports bar, I'm sure because he was losing so much money charging high prices for Mexican fare. The place was always empty except for the roof. He'll have a sports bar menu with a few of the Mexican appetizers from his old menu. It's a shame because I loved their food, just way too expensive for Mexican and his drink prices were ridiculous. If only he lowered his Mexican drink & food prices I think he would have survived but after emailing him to complain about his $11.00 margaritas, I can see that he wouldn't have listened to his customer base. The article mentioned WC being a college town so I guess they might have better luck getting the college aged kids in there to eat, although most are too young to drink.

Anyone try Vicker's Restaurant in Exton since reopening

I am glad to hear Vicker's is reopening but sorry the owner Arturo Burigatto is the same owner of Primavera in Downingtown as I like the lighting and atmosphere but the food is lousy. Hopefully chef David Robinson is good and can keep them coming back to Vickers.

Seeking the greatest PA sub/sandwich shops!!

I had some hoagies from Pagano's in Drexel Hill on Friday (at the Phillies parade) and they have to be some of the tastiest hoagies I've ever had. They were on sesame rolls, lots of meat too! Unfortunately I'm from Chester County and have to drive far to get them. Wish CC had some good sandwiches out here!

Phoenixville

Piko, I've been cooking pot roast for over 30 years and I have to disagree. Besides, the vegetables added at the end makes them crisp and not overcooked. I agree the servers need some experience but then again we're not looking at high end restaurants like Majolica (had a bad server experience there) or Birchrunville (I can walk from my house there) and was so hungry when we left I would not bother going again.

My recommendation is for the diner that wants a good meal for their hard-earned money. You just can't get that at many places these days.
