Marv's Deli North Hollywood

All kinds of character, great deli sandwiches and Marv or whomever the old guy is a hoot.

Need large business dinner w/class but not snobbery, multi course preferable

Thanks for the replies guys! The boss is not a fan of seafood or i would have said the crab dinner at Mozza is perfect... Hmmm, still not settled.

Need large business dinner w/class but not snobbery, multi course preferable

Hey Guys,

I work in Culver at Sony and i am looking for a local for a celibratory dinner at the end of the month. My first thought was the suckling pig dinner at Fords but things like tongue salad or pig cheeks my turn off my less-adventurous coworkers. I would love something like that, family style or multi-corse that will be good for a group of 10-15 and had decent wine/mixed drinks. Price isnt much of a consideration as the company is paying for it, culver area, thanks in advance!

Just got a Frida Bev. Hills dinner as a KCRW Premium. Is it good?

Scroll down to the bottom and read "The Rotten Tomato: Frida Mexican cuisine at the americana" Says it all for me.

Mozza or Pizza Bianco(Phoenix)???

I would say if you are judging on best overall gourmet meal, Mozza i.e. all the fancy apps and wine selection etc but for just overall best pizza, Bianco takes the crown without a doubt. Also i have never had a prob walking into Mozza not having to wait for more than a half hour, obviously not the case at Bianco.

Is there a better sandwich place than Bay Cities???

I third artisan cheese on ventua, they have a special (the bbp) with burrata, bruschetta and pancetta, so good. Giamela's is los feliz makes a mean eye-talian sandwich
I honestly wasn't that impressed by bay cities, between being crazily soup nazi hectic and the fact that by the time i paid and got to eat the sub was soggy. Over all it is no doubt a kickass deli but to grab a sandwich on the run, meh.
Also great bread at Santino's Pizza in Sherman oaks.

Best Calamari

I Would have to disagree with oyster house, every time i go there i feel like i am eating reheated frozen seafood.
I reaaaaaly enjoy the calamari at La Buca and Belmont ... strangely enough the Arclight cafe has pretty good calamari.

HOLE MOLE!

Spumoni Sherman Oaks

I agree, i went with my parents when they were in from out of town and the the owner was so nice. The food was very good, their pizza crust seems a little thick for me but otherwise i loved it.

Will be in Eagle Rock tonight

Brownstone is amazing and they have an alcohol license now!!!

Palate - Food & Wine (a review)

wow, that is pretty horrible. Jesus. I would have walked out or at least asked for a manager, did you?

Italian restaurant in the Hollywood/WeHo adjacent area

Which?

Italian restaurant in the Hollywood/WeHo adjacent area

Think so? I disagree, i have been there pre-remodel, during, and many times after and always dug it. What didn't you like?

Tagliatelle with boar ragu, holy crap that sounds amazing.

Awh man i love when food is referred to as pedestrian.
La Buca is spectacular and i would say it is your best bet.
Angelini Osteria is good also but i would venture to say smaller and more expensive.
Girasole on Larchmont is good but even smaller than the aforementioned places.
Farfalla Trattoria and Il Capriccio are good but casual, also Michelangelo is a little out of the way and there has been talk it has gone to shit since the move.

Saving the best for last i would say you HAVE to try Louise's Tratoria... just kidding, if i were a stodgy fellow i would call that pedestrian but i'm not so it's just a step above olive garden... okay maybe a big step but still.

Fresh Burrata

Also Artisan Cheese Gallery in Studio City has it.

Casual but tasty dinner for a veg between burbank and noho

Alright! I am going shooting with a lady friend on Saturday evening and after we wanted to grab dinner. She is a vegetarian and i was looking for something that was casual like Gordon Biersch but maybe has risotto? To much to ask? I was looking at Third and Olive but i am thinking i will be awkward if i happen to wear shorts that day as it apears to be fancy, that and there is no wine/beer list on their site... lame. Anyways, any thoughts would be appreciated. Price isn't really an issue but noses being turned up is.

Best Beer

haha i had the Shakespere a few days ago at V too! Man i love rogue, i just recently tried double dead as the original is one of my favorite beers! Never been to red carpet and i used to live in Gdale. Have you had Delerium Nocturnum, it is on my list too.

Best Beer

By Stone? Where can i get it?

Best Beer

All the ones i have had are hopptastic, nothing moderate. It's weird, i used to hate Stone brews but i can only imagine my taste buds changed (what is the theory, 5 yrs? 3yrs?) and now i cant get enough!

Best Beer

Verdugo is amazzzzzing!

Best Beer

Well said. I didn't see Thelonious or Damnation there (i dig both and might have missed them) and i pretty much like anything Stone brews but i stand by not liking Laurel Tavern.

Bossa Nova WLA-ridiculously bad

Yea... every restaurant should be like cheesecake and chilis. Mediocre and massive menus. There is something to be said for doing one thing and doing it well.

Palate - Food & Wine (a review)

It is all about frenchy at the bar, he is HILARIOUS and a complete dick but in that endearing "i'm french and know everything" kind of way. I believe he is one of the main sommeliers, you will love him if you dont take yourself too seriously, however if you think you are a wine genius he will prob put you to shame. Both times i have been were at the bar, i wouldn't want to sit anywhere else.

Best Beer

nice, i have my rogue card! Where in LA had rogue on tap?!?!
