New in Arlington
I ate lunch there and the salad was huge and flavorful, and some great Baba Ganoush!
I would ask for more pita bread, though.
Super nice people.
Good food in Arlington
I really like Taisho. They serve really good sushi and have excellent Miso soup. it's off Pleasant Ridge and Green Oaks. Jay Jay's Cafe has two locations in Arlington, and they are great! It's a hole in the wall, the decor isn't the best, but the food is delicious! I tried the Pecan Crusted Catfish and home fries, and both were some of the best I've ever had.
Good Food in Mansfield,TX
I agree with you on Cha Cha's, not bad, but not great. No Frills is wonderful. I think the nachos are the best ever, the crawrish po boy with tartar sauce is great, along with the San Antonio Chicken Sandwich. I've never eaten anything bad there, but I think the burgers are my least favorite. I always get tater tots instead of fries, as they are completely crispy and yummy!
There's a sushi place next to the theater I haven't tried yet, but plan to.
Grossest food on Zimmern's Bizzare Foods
When he ate the putrid meat fixed with scrambled eggs. You could see him actually gag on it.
Best Seafood in Arlington or Ft. Worth area
I am interested in good seafood, upscale or hole in the wall in the Arlington, Ft. Worth and surrounding immediate areas. I don't go to Dallas, so please, no suggestions from there. I like all seafood, but am tired of the usual chains, etc. I look forward to some suggestions. Thanks everyone. :-)
been to tom's burgers & grill??
I haven't been there, but my friend has. She likes it enough to keep a menu attached to her fridge. :) She said it's good.
Finding REAL Dr. Pepper
Saw something interesting tonight regarding Dublin Dr. Pepper. Chicken Express (needed a junk food fix) on Meadowbrook and Eastchase has it on their fountain. There was a big sign announcing it, and I remembered this post.
Looking for Chinatown
I have been to First Chinese BBQ many times. If you do a search on former posts about it, you'll see many people love it. I highly recommend First Chinese to anyone.
have you ben to no frill's grill
Very good food and reasonable. I have been going for years. I agree with
Sbol, the San Antonio Chicken Sandwich is good. I personally LOVE the nachos, much better than most restaurants. They just added many seafood items, such as Tuna, Tilapia, etc. The Blackened Crawfish and Shrimp Dishes are great, too. Tues is dollar pint night for domestics, and Thurs is $4 pitchers for Coors, Killians, or Rolling Rock. I do the Little Rd location.
Let me know if you have any more questions. :)
Favorite Halloween Candy
Cracker Barrel has an online store now. They sell candy from the 50s-80s. Chick-o-stick is in the 80s one.
Best local-to-Texas beer
Rahr in Ft. Worth also does free tastings and tours on Saturdays.
Must Eat's in DFW
First Chinese BBQ in Arlington is fantastic! If you like Middle Eastern food, Narah's is good, too. Their dolma and hummus is really good. I'm not sure if it's considered to be in Arlington or Pantego...
Arlington-Little Known Places
Yes, Prespa's is great! I live close to the DWG one, and they are wonderful people! Great food and atmosphere.
I haven't tried Corky's, but that sounds yummy! I think it's close to a little bar I go to. Will have to try it. Thanks!
Arlington-Little Known Places
I think I've had Al's, and it was good. I'm going to go again.
I think Arlington has a pretty good selection of yummy food, it's just weeding out the good from the bad process.
DFW suggestion?
First Chinese IS very good. Probably my favorite in the area. I don't know how well it would be suited for the party depending on the size and nature, but yes, it's delicious!
Arlington-Little Known Places
Thanks for these recs! I will try these out for sure. :)
Favorite Halloween Candy
I always liked Red Hots that came in the orange and black colors, Lemonheads, Sugar Daddies, and of course, all the chocolate!
They had Chick-o-Sticks back then. I still see them from time to time. They taste sorta like the inside of a Butterfinger. Yummy!
Arlington-Little Known Places
Does anyone have any recs for hole in the walls, little known places of any kind of food in Arlington?
My boyfriend and I see quite a few, but don't know what's good and isn't.
do you like mexican inn
I couldn't agree more. I live in Arlington and tried the Mansfield location. While our service was great, nothing else was. The chips, I agree, are terrible. And, with parts of them all puffed up, you can hardly get any salsa on your chip. Not a fan of salsa that comes out hot, temperature wise, as I prefer mine cold. The enchiladas weren't nasty, but they weren't anything I'd ever write home about. Yep, gonna pass on this one next time.
Best BBQ in Forth Worth
I really like The Smoke Pit. The food is good, they have different specials everyday, and just an all around, no frills, hole in the wall. Yummy!

Cheddar Biscuits
Ingredients:
2 cups Bisquick
1 to 1 1/4 c. shredded sharp cheddar
2/3 c milk (any kind)
3/4 tsp garlic powder
(ingredients below for after baking)
2 tbsp melted butter
2 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp garlic powder
Preheat oven to 400. Lightly grease cookie sheet, or I just bake mine on a stone.
Combine Bisquick, cheese, and garlic powder. Stir in milk. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes.
While baking, put the 1 tsp garlic powder and parsley into melted butter. Stir until powder is dissolved. Brush biscuits with butter mixture, then bake for about 2-4 more minutes.
This usually makes about 8 biscuits.

I have a easy, yummy recipe that I've tweaked. They taste like Red Lob biscuits if you want me to share.
Food Franchises That Don't Suck
I really love Abuelos. I can get spinach enchiladas and avacado enchiladas and they are yummy! I also like Outback. They never over cook my med rare steak.
Cracker Barrel
I think they are okay. Not horrible and not fabulous. I don't really care for their chicken and dumplings, as the texture of the dumplings is off, plus the chicken isn't shredded up in the broth, just big chunks.
Breakfast is decent. Just average style eggs, bacon, etc.
The service has always been very polite.
I like to go there to shop for lotion in the store section instead of eat there. :)
Coconut Ice Cream
Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I am going to try some of them for sure! :)
Coconut Ice Cream
I live in Arlington and can only find Coconut Ice Cream at Marble Slab. It's great, but has someone had it somewhere else? I can't find it at grocery stores, either, unless mine just doesn't carry it.
Thanks!
Everywhere that Aldi's goes...Trader Joe's is sure to go! [moved from Texas]

Tearing vs. cutting basil, mint
I think it would be just fine to cut the amount you need for a dish. It's been said not to cut lettuce, because it makes it turn brown faster (I think).
But if you are cooking or eating your food that day or the next, I wouldn't see a problem with using a knife. Plus, it's way faster.
