Yes: Marotta's pizza (CLE)
Had Marotta's pizza for the first time tonight. Yes. This is the best pizza I've had in Cleveland *yet*. (Note the yet--perhaps the best is really yet to come.) Picked up a large, plain (they call it "traditionale") pie. Saw the pizza guy making others with care. Properly chewy crust, spot-on sauce, the right type/amount of cheese. Very New Yorkish-style. If I was to quibble, I might say the crust could have been crispier. But really, I'd have to try it again to make sure.
For comparison's sake: My runner-up Cleveland pizza is Vincenza's, followed by Flour (for fancy pizza).
Uniquely Cleveland/Akron dining for visiting NYC hound?
If it's not too late, two dessert recommendations: Jeni's ice cream in Chagrin Falls for delicious "fancy" ice cream and Taggarts in Canton (nearish Akron) for old-school deliciousness.
Top Chef Texas Finale Part 2 - Ep. #17 - 02/29/12 (Spoilers)
I haven't read the whole thread yet, but surprised that more people have noted that neither chef picked him! Was his dish really that bad? ;)

My other favorite Grayson quote: "It's like sex in your mouth," to Tom on the BBQ challenge.

If it's the vegetable panang curry in the yellow(?) microwavable can, I agree that it was really bad.
Good eats around Kent St Univ (OH)?
So I've been to Taco Tanto's and was not impressed. It's not bad, just not great. Store-bought tortillas, salsas=nothing special, and the sweet potato/black bean tacos are just that--boiled sweet potatoes and beans sans seasoning in a tortilla w. shredded lettuce and pale tomatoes.
Local Subway variations?
The Subways in DC have a spicy pepper relish. Haven't seen that other places...
Cleveland-area CSA experiences?
Thanks, all, for the recs! I'll check them out and report back, well, in a couple months...
Cleveland-area CSA experiences?
It's the middle of winter, but never too early to start planning ahead, right?
So: I'm interested in joining a Cleveland-area CSA this coming year. Mainly interested in vegetables, leafy greens, etc. Does anyone have experiences any of the CSAs around here? Good/bad/otherwise?
I was thinking about Geauga Family Farms (http://www.geaugafamilyfarms.org/2012-summer-application/) just based on their descriptions and pick up sites (would prefer pickups on the east side).
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #7 - 12/14/11 (Spoilers)
Yknow, that inconsistency had been bothering me too. If that was the steak challenge, and Ty Lor messed up, by the logic in Ep 7 he should have gone home. I get that other people besides Ty Lor also worked on the steaks, but if he was the main person on them...
How Does Subway Stay in Business?
For myself, I think that the "perceived healthiness" of Subway's sandwiches is part of why I eat there. I can't think of any other lunch place around where I lunch (DC) that posts its nutritional information/makes it so easily accessible. If they did--and if it was comparable to my Veggie Delight--I'd likely turn to them instead of to Subway.
What's your "Subway" sandwich?
Veggie Delight on honey oat with all the fixin's, salt and pepper and extra hot pepper relish!
Amsterdam Falafelshop vs Maoz
I'll give Maoz another try with the garlic mayo! (Garlic+mayo--nothing wrong with that.) Not a fan of the green sauce they have at Maoz. Look like it'd be good, but it had an unpleasantly bitter taste to me.
Amsterdam Falafelshop vs Maoz
Sorry, it's actually on 20th! http://www.friendskabob.com/ Sorry!
Amsterdam Falafelshop vs Maoz
Hm, I actually like Amsterdam way better than Maoz! I feel like their balls are tastier--Maoz's seem a little boring to me--and have been crispier on the outside the times I've been there. My new favorite falafel: Friends Kabob on 19th(?) St near(ish) Dupot Circle. The one time I've been their falafel was shaped almost like a particularly plump mini-donut, had great flavor and super crispy, nubby outside.
Lunch along K Street?
Hm, thanks much for the suggestions! I'm a fan of Greek Deli, but am ready to try someplace else. Breadline looks great--will we be able to get a table around 1 or is it likely to be too busy?

Lunch along K Street?
Hello, Chowhounds! I'm meeting a friend for lunch next week and am looking for suggestions for a sit-down lunch place along K Street or a block or two north or south someplace between Washington Circle and Connecticut/Farragut North.
We've done Sichuan Pavillion and that basement Indian buffet next to Naan and Beyond and are looking for new options. Thai would be nice. Or even a good sandwich place with space to sit and eat. Any suggestions?
help: DC business dining on Feb 14th
There's a crispy spinach (or some kind of green) chaat appetizer that's excellent and somewhat unusual. V. similar to a dish at Rasika.

How Does Subway Stay in Business?
Hm, I've often asked workers at various Subways to add more olives/pickles/jalapenos and they'll do it w/o charging extra.
Hard Hat Report Vol 5
I thought I saw a sign for what looked like a Vietnamese restaurant too--Pho Thaisson? (sp?)
A Salad
Ooh, also the Woodlands Salad at the Woodland:
mixed greens, marinated chick peas, roasted beets, sunflower sprouts, red onion, sunflower seeds, ricotta salata, balsamic vinaigrette
The Inn at Little Washington, Blue Duck Tavern, Tabard Inn, Elsewhere?
Thanks to all for the suggestions! I'd like to spend about $200-250. Which it seems really does rule out the Inn at Little Washington. (I like to be gracious, but I also like to be able to pay my bills.)
I'm thinking either Marcel's or 1789 vs. Blue Duck. Which seems like a choice b/n old-fashioned sophistication vs. modern foodiness. Or am I off base with that characterization?
Good Place for Breakfast in Wimberley/New Braunfels/San Marcos
I've tried to like Herbert's, really, I have. It's been around forever and all those alums have such fond memories of it. But the food is just Not Good. The ranchero sauce is thin and flavorless, queso is gloppy and industrial (queso? how can someone mess up melty cheese?) salsa nothing special, refried beans lacking spice/porkiness/deliciousness, etc.
Maybe it survives because of the strength of its history, but it's certainly not because of the food.
Simple method of preparing sweet potatoes
Question: Nuke in a ziploc bag? Or one of those ziploc plastic containers? Or something else?
Green Mole Sauce at El Meson?
I share your concern, achtungpv! I went there w. a group for lunch a few weeks ago and there was one other party there.
Among us, we had guacamole (fresh and i *think* w. homemade totopos, but could have used a little more acidity or onion or something), chicken in red mole sauce (wow), a shrimp disk (which I was told was delicious) and enchiladas w. green sauce. Enchiladas were good, sauce was even better, and I liked the sprinkle of some dryish crumbly cheese across the top.
I'm no expert, but it seemed like fresh, homemade, high-quality Mexican food. Whatever it was, it was delicious.
Hm, I realize this isn't the most descriptive review, but I'd go back. Hopefully I can supply a better review next time!
The Inn at Little Washington, Blue Duck Tavern, Tabard Inn, Elsewhere?
We'd like to buy a gift certificate for a really nice romantic dinner out as a wedding present for friends of ours. Not being from DC, I was wondering if you DC hounds might be willing to help us choose where to send them?
A few options we were considering: The Inn at Little Washington (overrated?), Tabard Inn? Blue Duck Tavern? Someplace else entirely?
We'd like to send them someplace that feels romantic and special, but also with delicious food, ideally fabulously delicious. They're omnivores, so cuisine genre isn't much of a concern.
Any help would be much appreciated...

What are your favorite ethnic markets?
I second that recommendation. They have a good pickle/relish selection.
