dinner near 29th and 8th

I need to find a dinner spot for three friends (late 20s and early 30s), somewhat near 29th and 8th (so let's say 10 blocks north/south and two blocks east/west). Entrees under $20. Any ideas? I don't spend much time in Chelsea, so I'm at a loss... Thanks.

Winebar-ish place for a first date

I agree with Alta and Jadis, especially with respect to space issues. Another younger/hipper option might be Espistrophy, on Mott between Spring and Kenmare. Less space and louder, however.

Where to buy spices (specifically cumin) in Chinatown/Soho?

If it's not too far away, you could go to Commodities, a health food store on 1st Ave between 10th and 11th Sts. Bulk spices that are fresh and inexpensive!

SOHO, Saturday night, 10 people, mid-price range

Given that my options will probably be few, I won't be picky! But, that said, I would say that festive/"loud" is probably better than intimate/quiet. I'm not looking for trendy, but if it must be trendy, then that's OK.

SOHO, Saturday night, 10 people, mid-price range

Hello,

I'm looking for a restaruant in SOHO that can accomodate a party of 10 on a Saturday night (tomorrow) at 7:30. I'm flexible on cuisine, and prices should be $25 or less for entries. I've tried Opentable, but no luck. It's a group of mid- to late-20-somethings, if that matters. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Murray Hill/Gramercy Park Coffee shop help

There's a place called something like "Brasil Coffee" on Lex and 30th (or maybe 31st). I don't particularly like the coffee, but people definitely sit around there and study/write. Also, espresso drinks are ok; it's just the drip coffee that I don't like.

53rd St. and 6th Ave.

Looking for a restaurant somewhat close to 53rd St. and 6th Ave to catch up with a friend who's visiting from out of town. Atmosphere should be nice but not fancy. Looking for entrees around $20. Need to have fish or vegetarian options. Willing to travel to 8th or 9th Ave if that expands the options considerably.

thanks!

inexpensive, close to film forum

looking for something that is (preferrably) sit down, but not too expensive. I sometimes go to 'ino or Cafe Le Gamin (or whatever it's called now), but I'm looking for something different. Doesn't have to be super-cheap, but entrees in the high teens or less. Cafe with counter service is ok, too. Just need a place to sit.

Thanks!

Flurt Frozen Yogurt

I tried it, and I really liked it. It's very tangy, for lack of a better word. It tastes like someone took plain yogurt, added some sugar, and threw it in the freezer. I loved it, but I'm not sure it would be to everyone's taste. Can't compare to Pinkberry or Bloomingdales, as I've never tried them.

Laloo's Goat's Milk Ice Cream - Fig

Whole Foods in Union Square used to carry Laloo's Ice Cream in black fig; now they offer only vanilla and chocolate. Has anyone seen it elsewhere in the city? I love the stuff and miss it terribly!

Thanks.
