Al di la? Opinions & Good Night to Go?

Is Al di la in Park Slope really as amazing as every says it is? Not that I'm a perpetual cynic... It's just that after a while a restaurant can get overconfident or sloppy.

I'm looking to go to a nice place in the area on an upcoming weekend night. For Al di la, is it best to try to get a table on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night? Suggested times would be appreciated.

Also, it would be nice to know how much people generally pay to eat there, not including wine and tip. Thanks so much!

Cambridge/Harvard Square Brunch, pref. Outdoors

Hi,

I'm looking for a brunch place either in Harvard Square or somewhere reasonably close... Preferably with outdoor dining.

I've already tried Daedalus, so I'm looking for something else. Also, under $15 a person is a plus, but suggest whatever and I'll research further.

Good Place to buy Green Tea (loose leaf) in Prospect Heights/Park Slope

Ah, good idea. And it's all loose leaf tea?

Pre-Theater Dinner in West 30s/40s

Price point is hopefully $30-ish per person or less (without drinks/tax/tip).

Cuisine preferences? Whatever. We're going to Restaurant Sorrel in Brooklyn the next night, which is sort of nouveau American, so something somewhat different than that would be good.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and no steakhouses please.

Good Place to buy Green Tea (loose leaf) in Prospect Heights/Park Slope

Anyone know of a good place where I can purchase some quality Gen Mai Cha or other loose-leaf Green Tea in the Prospect Heights/Park Slope area? (Flatbush around 5th/6th/7th aves is good)

Thanks!

Pre-Theater Dinner in West 30s/40s

I'm interested in ideas for an early (5 or 5:30) pre-theater dinner in the west 30s/40s (hopefully around 6th, 7th, or 8th aves) that's both good, nice, and reasonably priced.

Ideas?

Recommendations for Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket (Prospect Park, Brooklyn)

Thanks so much for the recommendations!

Unforseen circumstances forced me to forego the Greenmarket today... Sadness. I will be back next week, or maybe I'll just go by Union Square at some point.

BUT! People can feel free to report on any good finds there... What was good this past Greenmarket?

Recommendations for Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket (Prospect Park, Brooklyn)

I'm looking to make a meal (dinner) entirely/mostly out of food from the Greenmarket at Grand Army Plaza. Any recommendations for good and reliable vendors of basically anything?

Specifically, I hear that good fish can be had there. Any ideas as to what kinds of fish are good/in season right now and where I can find them? (Also, could these fish be stored for 24 hours?)

Also, recipe recommendations would be nice (and no, the one from Wednesday's NYT food section doesn't count; already saw that).

Thanks so much!

Eggplant & Homemade Pasta... Ideas?

Hey folks...

Subject line says most everything. I have a nice big eggplant and a yen for making homemade pasta, and it'd be great if somehow the two could be combined.

This doesn't necessarily have to be in a single dish. I'm awash with homemade tomato sauce for the pasta, so that can just be that and the eggplant can just be a sidedish. But if you do know a way of combining them somehow, that'd be cool.

By the way, your famous eggplant parmesan recipe doesn't count. Sorry, but I've had that way too many times. Just looking for something different.

Oh, and FYI the pasta I was looking to make was just spaghetti or linguine, but if you have some killer recipe that requires other kinds of pasta, that's cool as well. I'm not going to start cooking for 5 hours or so.

Thanks very much!

(ingredient list/recipes appreciated)

Reasonably priced sushi...

So my understanding is that Oishii in Chestnut Hill doesn't take reservations... Is this still true?

I've eaten both at the Chestnut Hill location and the one in the South End. I found that the sushi was worse (still good but not as good) in the South End as the Chestnut Hill location, and much more expensive, so I'll definitely be going to the smaller place...

My problem is that if I go at like 7 on a Saturday night, I might wait for 2 hours before a table opens up, which would be pretty awful.

Reasonably priced sushi...

So I'm looking for (surprise) a reasonably priced sushi place that's hopefully accessible by T (subway pref, not bus).

I have the 06/07 Zagat (not the latest one, which is the 07/08) and Sakurabana looks like the only option that fits those criteria... Is this place good? What's the ambiance like?

Any other suggestions for places? Of course, my top criterion is really really amazing sushi, but price is semi-important... My price range is hopefully not more than $30 per person (not including drinks).

The chestnut hill oishii wouldn't fit this price range, would it? i know the south end one wouldn't...
