Why is the Olive Garden so reviled?

Yup, my point exactly. The refrigerated sections has all the soups and dips. The steaks from the chain restaurants tastes like they took it out of the package and threw it on the grill. I can do that, too. Fortunately, I rarely patronize those chain types.

Why is the Olive Garden so reviled?

Whenever I end up in a chain, I always think I could've went to BJ's freezer section and recreate the same dish for a fraction of the price. I think chains are a huge rip.

Googa Mooga Food Festival in Prospect Park

And let the Hunger Games begin!

When I first heard of this event, I kept re-imagining the scene from the 1999 Woodstock. Never crossed my mind to even venture anywhere NEAR Prospect Park on the dates of the event but to go far far away from it as possible.

Food fest+Prospect Park+Free Music+(and throw in) FREE EVENT= Night of the living dead zombie scene. Too many hungry people, not enough food. Looked good on paper though.

Brooklyn in itself is a mecca of international food delights, so why subject yourself to this horrible scene gone wrong?

Now, If you paid $250 for this...I think you deserved a refund.

Walked in a couple of nights ago because it looked interesting from the outside, but of course there was no english menu so I left. Has anybody been? Are they each independently owned? Whats good around there? And what does the chinese characters say on the awning? I'm assuming it has something to do with "snacks". Thanks!

You know you are a tad too obsessed when...

When friends tell me about their date last night, the first questions I always ask is 'How was the food? and "Where did you go?" before I even ask how was the person like.

My fellow foodie obsessed friend and I always discuss what we should have for dinner while eating lunch.

Zhongzi/Joongs From Grand Street Lady w/ Pictures. Not Mei Mei, But Still Good

Looks good but my dad makes a better one with homemade salty egg yolk, home cured salted bacon, lop churn, peanuts, and dried shrimp. I've tried Mei Mei which was fine but not as good as his. Laborious but well worth it.

What was your best Manhattan bought airplane meal?

Di Palos for slices of prosciutto, salami, olives, crackers and any non foul smelling cheese. In Chinatown I would pick up some grapes from a fruit stall and beef jerky on Elizabeth street(conveniently close by) to go along as well.

I try to be mindful of my seat neighbors and choose items that would not stink up the cabin. I don't want the person 5 rows away from me know what I'm having for lunch.
