Casual lunch near Brooklyn museum

On Underhill there is a place. Cheryl's Global Soul. I think its a good place for toddler action. And the food isn't bad either, so that's a plus . . .

Best Price on Parmigiano Reggiano in Brooklyn (or any outer borough)

Oh, I should have said, this isn't a call for recommendations, but a survey of the area. I'm more curious than needing a place to buy Parm. The Park Slope Food Coop sells it for $9/Lb and I wanted to know how cheap that was.

Where do people buy their Parmigiano Reggiano? And what price do you pay? Just the regular 22 month aged . . .not some fancy Vaca Rosa or 5-year-old.

atlantic antic this sunday

Ack, it was too crowded for a family there. We had some great soul food between Bond and Nevins and walked as far as Court st. Man, what a crowd!

atlantic antic this sunday

pitu, what time were you thinking of heading over? We still haven't committed one way or the other.

Stumptown Coffee, thanks for the tip!

And also at the wonderful, funky Roots Cafe on 5th Ave and 18th St. While you're in the neighborhood, stop at Little Buddy Biscuit Co and get some delightful cookies.

Schnitzel truck spotted in Cobble Hill

They were one of the vendors at the http://www.ediblebrooklyn.net/magazine/index.php/events/events.htm Good Beer event and my wife didn't want to eat the veal, so I was forced to eat the little nugget of fried meat - I too found the sides lacking and bland, but fair to say, I'm sure that it had been sitting there for quite a while. Not the highlight of the evening to be sure.

biscuits in Park Slope area?

I just ran into Pete, the owner of Little Buddy, this morning and got a tour of the place (it didn't take long - its a small place) and he said they're going to open on Wednesday. I've had his cookies before and they're really, really good.

Java Indonesian Rijstafel

Wow, I don't think I've been to Java since before this original thread was started. My ex-wife and I went there because it was one of the only places around back then. The thing I remember was the near-impossibilty of getting the check and the sleepy, sleepy music that they played in there. I think I might have almost fallen asleep waiting for the check with the hypnotic gamelon music playing. The food was mediocre as I remember it.

Fancy Food Show 2009

In defense, I spent a full 7 hours walking the floor yesterday and I hardly saw anything "mind-blowing". I'll be back this morning, and I'll give a few things a second look: black garlic the international sections . . . (we already carry the pestos at our store). I too tried many great cheeses (cheese coma was the word) and some great condiments, but nothing blew me away.

I'm getting some mangosteens and fresh coconuts today for sure.

fresh kombucha tea?

Bierkraft on 5th Ave has fresh kombucha.

Dine in Brooklyn - anyone been yet?

Rose Water last night - last minute reservations (dinner at 5:45, but still . . .) Three courses, three choices each. Optional $14 wine pairings. We both had Mahi Mahi which was excellent and both the salads were great. I like the DIB vibe - bustling busy restaurants are fun to go to rather than empty quiet ones (sometimes). Service was still great, even given they were training new staff. All in all, thumbs up.

SuperBowl Kielbasi

I always asked for the garlic kielbasa at eagle and was never disappointed.

Frozen dumplings - favorites? best place to find them?

i prefer the chorpidong brand (with the little smiling guy that seems to be wearing a sombrero) leek and kim chi dumplings.

Where to get dried ancho chiles Bay Ridge/Sunset Pk.

goya makes a great dried ancho chili that is available almost everywhere, including key food.

A "great" cup of coffee in Carroll Grds or nearby?

I've hear that Stumptown Coffee was coming to NYC. That's exciting.

New in Ditmas Park -- Top Cafe Tibet

I'm pretty sure I saw you (and your friend?) there around 8pm last night. Yes, you can bring beer in from outside or from the deli next door - and yes they have a really strange assortment of beers to choose from.

The beef momo and the vegetable were my faves and I'll try and be adventurous and try the goat sausage next time.

New in Ditmas Park -- Top Cafe Tibet

We went tonite . . . had the momo combo and the tibet thaili - also a spicy potato dish and the oatmeal soup w. chicken, peas, carrots and spinach. Everything was good - no complaints. I really enjoyed the lamb curry and some sort of cucumber dish in the thaili. Momo was also good. We are SO going back.

THANH DA banh mi

There's a street cart you took a picture of (the heading above the picture is "chinese american banks" ) - and that cart is great. I've loved everything i've ever had from there. Corner of 55th & 8th

Where can I find Khao Soi noodles besides Sripraphai?

I ate Khao Soi almost every day in Chaing Mai and I thought it was pretty darn good at AM Thai.

"I went back to my Hot, Sour, Salty Sweet cookbook by Alfgord and Dugid"

I have to agree that I LOVE this cookbook. Great recipes, great pictures, great stories. The Laotian seafood soup is one of my faves.

Worst grocery store in Park Slope

when you say the Key Food on 7th, you mean Key Food Fresh! Just look at that new green awning . . .that says fresh.

Damn, I wish there was an irony button on my computer.

Food/Drink items made in Brooklyn

I just saw this today for the first time. . .it looks beautiful and dangerous. one of my favorite combinations.

Brooklyn Petro makes an amazing hot sauce that has Brooklyn right there on the label . . .

Scalino - new Ital. place in Park Slope

there was a good dim sum place that was very short-lived that i can't remember the name of, but was somehow connected with R.H.S.

Looking for empanada dough in Brooklyn

I would try 5th Ave in Sunset Park. I don't have a specific store in mind, but I bet my bottom peso there's a mexican grocery store somewhere south of 25th street with what you're looking for.

Ben's Farmer Cheese

they do sell it at the park slope food coop (but you need to be a member, and be there at the lucky moment when its on the shelf).

PARK SLOPE FOOD COOP: what's good this week? (pt 3)

yes, the beer - I just had the two new offerings from allagash and they're both great (if you like belgian style beers that is)!

Bagels-Where, oh where, can you be(in Brooklyn)?

ditto terrace bagels - they're the ones the coop (PSFC) sells. pumperknickel are my fave.

5th Avenue in Park Slope, North of Union?

Long Tan has reasonable Thai food and good ambiance . . .
