Best Indian Restaurants in NYC
Junoon....elegant, inventive and far superior to any other Indian spot in Manhattan.
Good lunch around Manhattan diamond district?
Try Vitae, the still under-the-radar fine dining spot on East 46th, right off of Fifth Ave. The menu is inspired (creative Italian) and the decor is dazzling.
Sapori D'Ischia Closed?
Yesterday i was taking a friend to lunch at Sapori D'Ishia in Queens and found the place empty. A women working there told me the restaurant was closed for good but might be moving. Anyone have any more information?
Good seafood with bar seating for solo dining
Marea on Central Park South is the perfect spot...Great food and that bar is sexy...
La Cage aux Food, AKA, Vitae
Thanks for the beautiful photos. And so happy you enjoyed this place. For a newcomer, they truly have their act together.
La Cage aux Food, AKA, Vitae
The lamb is sensational...And last night's amuse, a cup of celery soup with caviar and a mini taco, was quite tasty. The food is fresh, full of flavor and beautifully plated. Enjoy.
La Cage aux Food, AKA, Vitae
Vitae, an elegant new eatery on East 46th Street, should become a new clubhouse for the media elite (it's a stone's throw from NBC). Unlike other clubhouses (Michael's) where the food is overpriced and uninspired, Vitae is plating some of the best American food in midtown. Clean flavors dominate an inspired menu (scallops with cauliflower in a vibrant curry sauce/ethereal housemade pastas/chilled pea soup with lobster). Service is still a bit disorganized, but the setting (a caged affair with abundant space and flattering lighting) is perfect for deal-making or making out (check out the intriguing balcony).

Maison Laduree has finally opened!
Waited in line for one hour on Friday to try these much heralded macarons. Although good, there are a handful of NYC bakeries that produce equivalent or better morsels: Bouchon, The Macaron shop on West 23rd Street, Cannelle in Queens--even the mini-chain, Financier, can turn out a fine macaron. You certainly don't need to buy into the upper eastside frenzy for a tasty cookie

Place for brunch and/or after theater meal
Try Fig and Olive...right off of 5th Ave. An unusual brunch with loads of creative options (and not as pricey as the Modern).

Beecher's Cheese store in NYC?
Went there yesterday and they were offering a one-day only 50% off everything....I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, some mac and cheese and bought some of their trademark cheese to bring home. In spite of long lines, everything moved quickly and the food was delicious. Love this place and the "theater" of watching cheese being made on a gigantic stainless steel stage. All I can say is "Thank You Cheeses!"
Lunch recs in walking distance of Tiffany's for older group?
Fig and Olive (off of 5th Ave) would be perfect.
At last great Indian Food in JH
No. Buffet is only breakfast and lunch. Dinner is quite elegant with gracious service, beautiful place settings and food that speaks of fine ingredients and care. Go!
At last great Indian Food in JH
I've lived in Jackson Heights for three years and have been underwhelmed by the quality of Indian food here, until now. The sparkling new Tawa Tandoor is serving high quality, flavorful, grease-less cuisine in a beautiful environment with terrific service. From appetizers through main courses and breads (and wonderful complimentary condiments), the food here far surpasses every other Indian restaurant in JH (my go-to before was Delhi Heights, where the food was often good, but often uneven). I'm hoping the neighborhood will welcome this newcomer and fill the many seats nightly. FYI, they don't have a liquor license yet, but one is on the way.

Need a GREAT resaurant in times square for tonight
Becco (despite RGR's ever present pans of this place), is a high value restaurant (with three revolving all you can eat pasta dishes)...I have been eating and bringing friends here for 15 years and have always had terrific service, good --and sometimes great--pasta, and delight in a wine list that offers wine from every part of Italy for a budget-friendly $25 per bottle. The place, indeed, can be crowded and is not ideal for conversation. And the crowd is full of New Yorkers, like myself, who are constantly looking for good food and good value. When I have a few extra bucks, I head to Marea. The rest of the time, Becco beckons.

Le Bernardin & My NYC Restaurant choices. Help?
Blue Smoke is not worth your time (dated, average food)..Try DBGB in the Bowery for a much better and current experience. And for my money, the best new Italian spot in NYC is Marea (Maialino is trendy, but not terrific)....
Romantic restaurant for a birthday date (Theatre district and surrounding area).
Try Chez Josephine on West 42nd. Romantic atmosphere, and decent French food.

Calle Ocho on the Upper West Side. Great ambiance, creative food.

Where to lunch near Waldorf-Astoria? Alone in NYC!
The Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station. And sit at the counter.
Looking for a COZY, ROMANTIC restaurant in Manhattan!!
Highly recommend GIANO, a very romantic (candlelilght) and very affordable and very Italian bistro on East 7th Street. Terrific service too.
Suggestions for a 16 yr old and her friends in Manhattan - not a chain
Stanton Social Club (downtown) or Aspen Social Club Midtown. For a cool, southwestern experience, try Suenos in Chelsea or go to Motorino in the East Village for wonderful pizza.
