Oxnard - Family Friendly

Second this place. We eat here often when we are in Oxnard. Check out the Jolly Oyster nearby in Ventura too. Not a restaurant though. More of a place to buy and shuck your own oysters and clams on the beach. Bonus? You are allowed to bring and consume alcohol there.

Okumura in Encino

Just OK. I've gotten the Omakase there before its nothing special, run of the mill cuts of fish. The last time I went I didn't get a bunch of things I ordered because he was too busy catering to a Japanese four top. The items, however, were on my bill. 4 on 6 as Sgee mentioned is superior.

El Nido Restaurant: Worth A Try

They have a very tasty bull testicle soup. It's what I always order.

Sol Y Luna

For that type of Mexican food I think Salsa and Beer is WAY better.

Zam Zam in Culver City, what do you guys get here ? Is it a meat intensive joint, or veggies and na'an, and veggie curries and chutneys are their nom de guerre ??????

The sign says $12.00 but they charged me $10.00 like usual.

The combo is chicken biryani, a choice of two stews you get one meat one veggie (from the steam table) couple pieces of tandoori chicken a piece of ground meat kabob and naan for $10.00. On Fridays they have the biryani already packed and stacked for the mosque crowd.

A pastrami sandwich as good as Langers

Latke slid inside a pastrami?!!! You win for deviant deli concoctions. Nice!

A pastrami sandwich as good as Langers

I think labels table is the best. I think when you factor in the price it's the bestest! Better?

A pastrami sandwich as good as Langers

I have. I think I tried it based on your recommendation from a previous post. I like it but I'm always fighting between the pastrami or my deviant creation a hot tongue sliced thick on toasted sourdough with mayo, onions and tomatoes. Honestly it's a battle for which I like more.

A pastrami sandwich as good as Langers

"As good as langers IF not better when you factor in the price." Meaning I think it's as good as Langers and better when you consider the price, if price matters. Otherwise it's as good.

A pastrami sandwich as good as Langers

It's the quintessential deli; dreary room and old regulars. I stand by my comparison to langers.

A pastrami sandwich as good as Langers

It's not a question, it's a statement. The pastrami sky high with Swiss cheese at Labels Tables on Pico is as good as Langers if not better when you factor in the price. I have to stop myself from eating there every single day.

The meat is juicy and seasoned nicely. The rye has a crusty crust and a pillowy interior and the sky high coleslaw and dressing is perfect. Sandwich and soda with two great pickles? $12.00.

The clincher? No wait.

Did anyone try the Ramen Burger in Torrance today?

3-4 hour wait? Sounds like an idiot tax.

Blue Plate Oysterette

No self respecting fish shack should ever use tilapia, disgusting.

Best place to gorge on raw oysters in LA?

You buy the oysters and clams by the dozens and shuck them yourselves. They sell some stuff like oyster knives and limes but you bring whatever else you need there are dozens if picnic tables and bbq's so you can even grill up the oysters and clams. They have recently added a food truck but I haven't tried it yet. The Jolly Oyster makes for a GREAT summer picnic day.

I've been to the lure fish house in Ventura and we've enjoyed our meals there. However,if you've gone that far you might as well go a bit further and go to the Jolly Oyster.

Thousand Oaks/westlake village

My family likes Lure Fish House in Westlake Village. They have a good oyster bar, good food and friendly service.

Top Round Roast Beef

The custard was scooped by hand. They had the option of design your own custard dessert, shake or you could make your own float using that new fangled touch screen coke machine.

Top Round Roast Beef

The sandwiches I would guess have about 4oz of sliced beef in them. Paired with an order of the dirty fries and I think you'll want to walk it off. And yes, I would drive to try it, however, if you wait long enough I'm sure one will open near you.
