Bacalao where to find in the San Fernando Valley?

I'm looking to make Bacalao does anyone know where to find it near Encino that's not Whole Foods?

Looking for 1 or 2 great foie gras dishes FOR TAKEOUT

Last time at Wally's cheese shop they mentioned they sell foie gras cast offs. Why not go there buy the trimming pieces and make a foie gras stuffing to take to the party? A seared goose liver is for the here and now. It's not a cash and carry dish.

Love those Blue Crab Hand Rolls! Whose are the best?

Kiyono sushi on south Beverly drive makes a
Ridiculous crab and lobster roll with soy paper. Kiriko's blue crab roll with the cucumber is an excellent all crab roll.

Knotts Berry Farm

Agree with Kevin. While not the greatest thing ever you can't go to knotts without eating at Mrs. Knott's.

626 Asian night market a ZOO!

You mean porice?

626 Asian night market a ZOO!

Everything was over an hours wait to get to. Even cell service was spotty due to all the people. The city was definitely not prepared for the huge turnout. It was a boon for the local restaurants, however.

626 Asian night market a ZOO!

Way to crowded. Eating at Roy's instead.

Best Fries on Westside?

Reddi Chik!

Lamb sandwich or dip - westside

Any one know where to find a lamb sandwich other than mendocino farms?

Asian Night Market in Pasadena.

Parking charges have nothing to do with the event not being free. Ride your bike if you don't want to spend $ on parking. The admission is still $0.00.

Best Omakase in Los Angeles for $100?

Sushi Kiyono in Beverly Hills on Beverly drive has an excellent sushi chef, Kawasaki San. I eat there all the time and I go to town and eat a lot. For lunch the other day three of us eating Omakase came to $200 with tip.

Awesome news for ramen lovers in the Valley!!

This is very exciting news!

Label's Table -- Best Westside Pastrami Sandwich

I would agree with that too. I get it on toasted sourdough with mayo, onions and tomato served hot. Oh, and I ask for it sliced thick.

Omakase in the Valley - Suggestions?

"Got Sushi" at Kings Burger. Junn, the Chef, is pretty creative with some of the things he puts together. Last time there he made seared tuna and shiitake mushrooms with a veal soy sauce. Its a sushi counter in his dads burger joint. The location is surreal but the sushi is first rate.

Jersey-style Italian Hero (AKA Sub)

Try Fat Sal's in Westwood.

Sushi Nozawa Closing!

Wow! That's huge.

800 degrees crust

I agree. I've been three times so far. My last excursion was on Sunday taking the whole family. Everyone loved the pies and salads. The only problem we encountered was people sending a member from the group to reserve tables while the others waited in line. That seriously screwed up the whole operation. I stood by the counter with my completed order while my wife tried to secure a table. 1/4 the tables were being reserved for people behind us in line another 1/4 was people that had eaten their lunch but were shooting the sh*t. I got management to complain about it. I think they know this is their one MAJOR flaw. They need to put signage up and have mgmt walking the floor discouraging the practice. If you order your pie, pay and find your seat, in that order, the system works. Saving seats while in line makes the whole system fail. I was seriously stressed Sunday and I know that if that happens again I will not take the family back there, regardless of the product.

Private dining room - nice steak restaurant

Morton's steakhouse also has a private dining area.

Super Pollo Van Nuys is reborn as Takatis Pollos a la Brasa...and well worth a visit

Took the family there tonight. Despite a foul smelling homeless woman eating and throwing things around the restaurant I will try and be fair. I usually go to bonano's chicken, for me that is the gold standard in the valley. Takatis has a much smaller and less diversified menu than bonano's, for example they don't offer anywhere near the same amount of fish dishes. The service was off the whole night. I'm with my wife and kids and the food starts coming out the waitress brings me and my wife plates and silverware I have to flag her down to bring the same for my kids wtf! Peruvians don't feed their children? The serving sizes of the food was much smaller than that of bonano's chicken at the same price and a way crappier location. Bottom line, the bill for a family of five with three kids under 11 came to $60.00 tax/tip. 1/2 chicken, anticuchos, chaufa de mariscos and lomo saltado. one and done for me and mi familia.

Where can I find Graber Olives?

Are they sold in jars?

Anyone foraging or interested in foraging in the LA area? + Wild Fennel in So Cal

I refer to the dates for the season because you mentioned the "many times" you snared rabbits in your yard. I would hate for some "chowhound forager" to get busted by DFG and have to go to court and spend thousands of dollars in fines for not knowing the law. Hunting and fishing laws are not so widely known in most parts of this state.

What zone do you hunt deer? I'm M7

Anyone foraging or interested in foraging in the LA area? + Wild Fennel in So Cal

Das Ubergeek, you need a fishing license for the crayfish and a hunting license for the rabbits. The rabbits can only be taken in season which is from July 1 until the last Sunday in January. You can get away with taking rabbits in your yard without a permit, unless you post about it on the internet and let people know. If a warden catches you with crawdads and no license you will be going to court and spending $$$$.
