Yukari trained as a baker and chef at the French Culinary Institute and as a sommelier with the American Sommelier Assocation. Food and travel writer based in Tokyo and New York City. Her first book, "Food Sake Tokyo" is published by The Little Bookroom. She posts that she is available for consulting projects related to Japanese cuisine and culture. She also worked at Takashimaya’s flagship store in Nihonbashi as a sommelier in the sake department of the depachika.

here's a few photos from Unashou. To access, use the escalator or lift IN theYodobashi store. And to clarify the photo's in the previous post, the unajyu is Kikukawa and the wooden bowl is Unashou's.

have been back multiple times for their hitsumabushi. our last visit yielded new wooden bowls, reduced portion size, but still same quality and they will ask you if you want the kimo in your soup.

Currently reside in Tokyo. Strollers and toddlers a plenty during the daytime. Avoid the noisy/smokey izakayas. May find Aoi-Marushin fun if you tour Sensoji in Asakusa. Tokyos largest tempura restaurant & english menus. Last I ate there, both tables flanking us had toddlers in the tatami room. http://www.fodors.com/miniguides/mgre...
The last restaurant I ate at in Nikko this past April, the waitress had her toddler on her back! "Well behaved toddler" is welcomed in just about any eatery in Japan. Especially the tourist areas are very receptive. Department store restaurants are very accomodating for todders. Never have I NOT seen toddler/strollers while waiting to eat at Takashimaya's restaurants in Shinjuku!
And if they have a plastic kid's meal in the window, kid friendly indeed!
