Culver City

i second La Dijonaise! great dijon chicken.

also, terrific croissants (both plain + chocolate) in the AM. but get there early...they usually sell out. however, you can call in ahead of time and reserve your pastry order. just tell them what you want, give your name + the time you'll be in.

Need a Good Birthday/Date in Hollywood-is Area Restaurant

have you ever been to Cafe des Artistes? really pretty patio in the back. lots of trees, plants and little white lights. nice place for romantic French meal. last time i was there, the food + service were still good. when you make a reservation, definitely request one of the side tables on the patio.

So I Just Bought a Supermarket Roasted Chicken & don't want to eat it for 2 - 3 Hours...

got sick as as dog once from chicken, so now i'm VERY careful about eating it.

i do love the store-roasted chickens. if we don't eat it right away, it goes straight to the fridge. when i want to heat it up, just cut off a few pieces and warm them in the microwave. tastes just fine.

best way to re-heat leftover pizza? a few minutes under the broiler. crust gets a bit crispy, cheese melts w/o getting soggy.

My Sushi Tour - Ike, Zo and Shibucho

Sushi Ike has always been one of my favorites. i prefer to sit at the bar. you must try the grilled octopus. very simple, served with a bit of lemon. charred to smoky perfection! they also take reservations.

we recently discovered Sushi Karen in Culver City. add that to your list. sit at the bar, you won't be disappointed.

Hirozen is another favorite. have had good sushi at the bar + tables.

Post-Dodgers Game Snack

Red Lion Tavern is great. is the old accordion player still there, the one who takes requests for Van Halen songs?

Bloom Cafe - Delivery!

this place is awesome! we order from there all the time. my boyfriend doesn't mind going to pick it up, since the owner always gives him a glass of wine (on the house)while he waits.

the pizzas are amazing, just recommended a few in another post. i love the Marguerite and Goat Cheese/Onion Confit. my boyfriend loves the Blue Cheese/Squash. they also make some nice sandwiches, like the mozzarella + tapenade. try it with the pomme frittes...delicious!!

Pace (Laurel Canyon)

went to Pace a few months ago...it was okay. nothing special. i remember going a few years ago and really loved it.

try Pane e Vino on Beverly (near LaCienega) for double date. beautiful outdoor patio, nice romantic vibe - pretty trees, little white lights - good food.

Looking for the best pizza in LA

Bloom Cafe (just east of Fairfax) makes a really nice pizza. i prefer the Marguerite or Confit Onion/Goat Cheese (no sauce). my boyfriend raves about the Blue Cheese/Butternut Squash and Rosemary Comte Cheese/Leeks/Potatoes. i tried the Triple Tomato once, but it was take-out and by the time i got it home, it was too soggy. i love tomatoes, so i'd probably give it another chance, but would eat it at the restaurant.

Need Rec For Mother's Day Dinner/Pasadena...

am taking mom for an early dinner on Mother's Day. any suggestions for Monrovia/Pasadena? prefer American, seafood or Italian. old school or new spot is okay. just don't want a 'scene' or anything too 'showy'.
