NYE - Gotham Bar and Grill?

You might check out Tocqueville, Union Square Cafe, Veritas, Craft and Gramercy Tavern. All away from Times Sq but convenient. None have "crazy" pricing for that date. USC and GT open resv Saturday. I'm sure others can offer more ideas.......Good luck!

732 Social and White Oak in Louisville

I was thinking of trying one or both of the two on my next trip into Louisville. Does anyone have a view on either these days? Originally in 2009 they both got great reviews from Robin and Marty and many diners, but seems like things may have gone down hill this year from what I have read....Would appreciate any comments from Hounds who have recent experience or know someone who has.

Best Pizza Delivery - La Jolla Village ?

We will be spending a week in La Jolla Village next month (La Jolla Cove Suites) and one night we just want to go over to the park and enjoy some good wine and a pizza overlooking the ocean. Can you Hounds help me with who is the best pizza delivered to to hotel?

Aureole Bar Room

Considering the Bar Room at the Aureole for a Friday night dinner. I have seen mixed reviews on the board about the "new" Aureole in general. Can some of you hounds help with your thoughts on the Bar Room.....food, atmosphere, etc? All appreciated.

Coming to town...NEED HELP

How about Eleven Madison Park for Saturday night.....She will OOH and AAH and so will you. Check this board for extensive comments. As good as it gets.

This year"s dining itinerary...would welcome your comments!

I might suggest you solict more thoughts on the board about Otto......nothing wrong with it, just (surprisingly) really average. We love Babbo, et al but Otto was indeed a let down. Certainly not a "Saturday night" place.

Il Mulino questions

As noted by ESNY, portions are generally HUGE, many enough for two.

The "Tavern" at Gramercy Tavern

Would the Hounds help us with your experience with the wait to get a table to dine in the Tavern (bar) at Gramercy Tavern on a Friday or Saturday during prime time (7-9 pm)? I'm guessing it could be quite long but would appreciate insights from those of you who have had the experience. Thanks for your comments! We would like to try it this weekend.

La Jolla Recommendations

I second the comments of Captain Jack and Alice Q.......many choices, but Georges is at the top of the list. The roof top patio is hard to beat for view and "upscale casual" dining. Reserve in advance or its a lengthy wait during prime times.

3 day food itinerary in San Fran - how does it look?

On a recent vist to the City, we had dinner at Frascati and everything about the experience was GREAT. Also, it may not be at the top of some lists, but we always try to include the Tadich for a lunch or dinner. If you have never been, it's a fun experience and you will enjoy the food if you keep it simple and stick with whatever fish is fresh that day. Of course, you have only three days and about a thousand excellent possibilities. Good luck!!

Fabi and Rosi Report

We finally made it to Fabi and Rosi last weekend. It was better than we had imagined. We were regulars at Zoot before it move from the building and thought it was excellent. Fabi may not be at quite that level food wise, but close and overall, it was a great dining experience for a lower tab. Wine is particularly well selected and very reasonable.

"don't miss" places in Austin?

Agree with several here that top places somewhat unique to Austin would include
Vespaio, Salt Lick and, if its a clear warm day, The Oasis on Lake Travis for drinks, and maybe a few Apps. at sunset (overall food is mediocre). A couple of places in town somewhat overlooked with great vibe and excellent food that never disappoint are Cafe Josie, and Asti.

Help with info on Jai Yun

Thanks, wolfe.....just what I needed!

Help with info on Jai Yun

Can the Hounds help me with Jai Yun? All the reviews i've seen say just tell them how much you want to spend per person. Does anyone know what the options are and how this would work out for Lunch as well as dinner. Food sounds great....just trying to understand how things work there. Thanks for all!

Abel's on the Lake - How is the food?

Now that they have been open on the Lake for a while wondering if anyone has feedback on the food at THIS location....

Dim Sum, Lamar Blvd.

We tried "Get Dim Sum" for the first time today for luch and were very pleased with the food and quick service. Any questions are answered quickly and politely The atmosphere is "clean and pleasant fast food" and the food itself is good, probably about a B+ in my book. Not a place for a great night out, but for a quick pick up or a Sunday lunch, I think this place fits the bill well.

Gonzales Food Market -- Good BBQ

I'm glad Gonzales Market is finally getting some recognition....The Breitschopf Brothers, Willie and Raymond , were the proprietors for quite a while starting in the 60's and Lopez has continued the tradition of exceptional BBQ. It's certainly the equal of the excellent Luling Market and I think better than a couple of the Lockhart joints. If you haven't been to Gonzales Market, GO, you'll like it.....As you may have guessed, I grew up on it.

San Diego recs.

If you go for George's Terrace (it's our favorite in LJ), call now for a resv...they are extremely busy in the summer season. Show up w/o resv and it could be an hour plus wait or more. resv taken current and following month by phone and a shorter period on open table.

Ho Ho Chinese BBQ open

Where is this place located?

Abel's on the Lake

Has anyone tried Abel's on the Lake now in the old Lucy's Boatyard building ? Apparenty an offshoot of Cain and Abel's. Wondering if the food, basic as it may be, is worthy.

Eleven Madison Park - great wines that won't break the bank?

RGR is right on with her comments. We have had several excellet experiences giving the EMP Sommelier a general description of what we want and a price point of "x" or less wtih the cavet to gudie higher if necssary. (the price point was definately on the low end of the scale) We put it entirely in his hands and the results were exceptional in all respects. It was obvious he enjoyed his "challange."

Best Tortillas in Austin

Hounds, I'm Looking for the best tortillas (both corn and flour, ) to take out in Austin. Your thoughts appreciated

Degustation

Thanks, Julietg! I will be sure to try the tortilla.

Degustation

We will be at Degustation for the first time soon and looking forward to it. I have seen comments about small portion size. Is the 5 course Chef's Menu enough for a "normal" /average appetite? Special dishes not to miss? Comments and guidance appreciated

Restaurants for elderly NYC visitors

Regis' favorite "Il Tinello" might be a good fit ......

Enchilada Sauce?

Glad you found it, and so this is probably unnecessary, but two comments anyway. OLD El Paso is a good, authentic and reliable brand for this type of thing. That said, traditional Tex-Mex style (and our choice at home) is a simple Chili Gravy made as you would expect with oil, flour, everyday chili powder and water. Takes about 2 minutes and has the perfect complimentary effect for the dish.
