Fine Dining in Kansas City

It looks like your hotel is actually right by the plaza. I suggest one of these nice places for Mon. night:
Julian, Top chef contestant and James Beard award winner Celian Tio's place in Brookside.
The Rieger, located in the Crossroads, if you go here, also have a cocktail in the back basement "speakeasy" called Manifesto.
Room 39, go to the 39th street location. This one does have a tasting menu.

The only good places near the stadium are BBQ or dive kind of things. I recommend Big T's or LC's BBQ,

Lunch in Westport - KCMO

Beer Kitchen is my favorite place down there now:
The Hogtied sandwich and fries are excellent.

1 - 70: veg friendly dinner very near STL airport, and burritos in Columbia

I second this and there is a new location on Bus. Loop 70, right off the highway.

Kansas City restaurant recommendations please

Accurso's is good, but maybe too high?

I hate to mention a chain, but for a group that size with limited budget you might try Buca di Beppo?

For a gastropub, I like Beer Kitchen:

Any good sushi recommendations in KC area?

I haven't tried it, but here is a new place downtown in the Power & Light district:

I do highly recommend Bristol in the P&L. They have a couple sushi items and they have a great happy hour deal. I like the blue point oysters.

Jazz restaurant in KC? - this is downtown, I've never eaten here, just gone for music. - near the Plaza, again I've only gone for the music. - check the calendar for when you are here. They have free live music and just okay cajun food. I think it would be fun for kids.
OK Joe's is great, but I'd call in for a togo order to avoid the terrible lines, 47th St. location is near mid town:
Or try any Gate's or Arthur Bryant's location.

KCMO: Beer, Mexican, Vegetarian Friendly, Quiet, BBQ, arts district?

Here are some suggestions in the Crossroads (arts district)
Grunauer, I love this Austrian place, nice bar:
Fud, vegan restaurant, no alcohol though:
Extra Virgin, tapas, very close to Hammerpress:
La Bodega, tapas, great happy hour daily 4-6, Sat. 2-4:

Also for quiet lunch I recommend Webster House downtown. They have a nice antique store downstairs.

Dinner in Columbia MO

Great pizza at Shakespeare's or Tony's.
Murry's has good food and sometimes Jazz, south end of town.
Sophia's is also south and had a great variety on the menu. Last time I enjoyed the horseradish crusted Salmon there.

Kansas City-area restaurants for my grandma's birthday

Hereford house is a reasonably priced steakhouse. I haven't been to this location in Independence (near Blue Springs.) It may have a banquet room you could get.

Sister's weekend in Kansas City

I suggest Lidia's brunch to experience the restaurant's beautiful atmosphere.

Then I suggest PotPie or Grand Street Cafe for a dinner location not far from the plaza. (need reservation here

KC - croissants for christmas

I love Le Monde for their croissants and also yummy soups. The seafood bisque on Tues. is my favorite but also like the spicy chicken curry they have every day.

Fun / funky / celebratory in KC (north)

I think a Mongolian BBQ place would be fun for young people if you don't have one of those in your hometown. Ghengis Khan on Bell St. near 39th St. in midtown is my favorite, and they have a Northtown location I haven't tried at 8634 N. Boardwalk KC, Mo 64154 . There is also a new Ghenghis Grill in the power and light district, but I haven't heard anything about it.

Another suggestion is Blue Koi also in midtown, or Nara for sushi.

Anchorage, Alaska

Last week I ate at Spenard Roadhouse and had a great lunch! The vegetarian special was peroigi's stuffed with portabella mushrooms and other veggies in a marsala cream sauce. The calamari appetizer and salads were also great.

Lobster - KCMO

Best I have had is at Bristol (in P&L). They have a special on Wed., starting at 4:30 in the bar. You can get their small lobsters ~1.25 lbs for cost, around $14. It was so tender and sweet! They also have deals on appetizers and drinks. They offer only a limited amount of these lobsters so it may sell out.

KC, MO Patios (Kansas City)

La Bodega has some tables out front on the sidewalk and a good deal on happy hour (1/2 price tapas & sangria, 4-6pm weekdays, 2-4pm Sat.).

Thomas on 39th St. has upper deck tables and I love their Buttermilk Cider Chicken dish.

I haven't been, but have been hearing about Westside Local Restaurant & Beer Garden, near 17th & Summit. People say great beer selection and good food.

Kansas City Tacos

I eat there for lunch sometimes and enjoy the Huaracha with chicken. Sometimes I can get them to give me a tiny side of mole sauce that I dump on it. I haven't tried them, but their fajitas look good and are cheap at lunch time. I also love the Tropicana ice cream place next door. Pine Nut ice cream is delicious!

1 lunch and 1 dinner in KCMO

L.C.s by the stadium is known for the best BBQ burnt ends.

Bluestem in Westport may be the best gourmet place.

For a good steak dinner, try J. Gilbert's (may favorite steakhouse) on Metcalf, one of the Hereford House locations(food good, but not very fancy), or Plaza 3 on the plaza(I've never been, but it is famous.)

Kansas City Tacos

El Taconazo has good, cheap street tacos.

Panzon's has a great fried chicken taco and a good spinach/pepperjack enchilada.

Try In-A-Tub for some really weird and greasy deep-fried tacos.
