Seeking out best veggie burgers in LA
The only veggie burger option I see, other then the "Grilled Vegetable & Goat Cheese Sandwich," is the alternative request to get a boca patty. Is this the burger to which you refer?
21st Bday...14 people...$500
I have a query for all the chowhownds out there. Where can my younger sister go for her 21st birthday where 14 people will be in attendance for around $500 including minimal drinking? Anywhere in Los Angeles would suffice.
Tasty Artery Clogging Home Cooked Recipes
This past weekend I was staying with my fiances parents and her mom made something that to me sounded terribly gross and unhealthy, but when concocted turned wildly good. It wasn't a complicated recipe. Just a half loaf of french bread, slathered with mayo, topped with cheese and garlic, and baked. Simply bad for me but decidedly delicious.
You see I grew up in a health crazed household, so I find it's these jaunts to the future in-laws where I always end of eating what feel like Paul Dean waist widening type creations. It's like I'm making up for lost time in one weekend.
Anyways it got me thinking about terribly unhealthy recipes and made me wonder what else is out there. I'd pose this question to the general chowhound public. What is something, that is your own creation or maybe a family recipe, that is so terribly bad for you that it's borderline carnival food? Something that you have maybe once a year, but always look forward to it like a warm disgusting friend.
Use for Leftover Cinnamon Rolls?
I have a dozen day old glazed cinnamon rolls that I want to turn into something else. First that came to mind was french toast or maybe bread pudding. Anyone have a better idea?
ISO Best Stuffed Mushroom Caps
A recent wedding expo full of cruddy stuffed mushroom caps had me wondering; where's the best stuffed mushroom caps in Los Angeles?
from Woodland Hills for Nachos
For over a week I've been experiencing a major nacho craving. Any place nearby my homestead in Woodland Hills to kill my cheesy urge?

How does the banana creme pie at Le Grande Orange compare to Apple Pan's versio?
Help Navigating the VEGGIE GRILL menu
I'm gonna be at the Veggie Grill on Tuesday. What's good paired with their apparently great sweet potato fries?
ISO Best Blueberry Muffin
I haven't made my way just yet, but TOMORROW is the day. So if anyone has anything more to add now's the time! Otherwise it'll be PORTOS or K'S on my list.
ISO Best Blueberry Muffin
The couple local blueberry muffins she's had and enjoys are from the local chain Mimi's and another close place called Nat's Early Bite. Those are of the fluffy variety, and I'm sure she'd enjoy the addition of a streusel top.
Help My Resolution to Cook More... PLEASE!
There comes a time in life when you must abandon the ease of "Easy Mac," the absence of toppings on "Top Ramen," and when "Hot Pockets" are just not so hot anymore. For me that day is today.
I've been inspired by the rapidly approaching new year and my upcoming apartment move to change my eating habits. I want to cook more at home to not only be more frugal and a better chef, but to also protect a waist line that so far has been helped by my 20something year old metabolism.
But where do I begin? I assume the first place would be to stock my pantry and refrigerator appropriately, and the best way to learn how is to read what you yourself have as staples in your kitchen.
Care to share and help me with my resolution?
ISO Best Blueberry Muffin
For my girlfriends birthday every year I like to take her to places that serve some of her favorite foods.
First on my list are blueberry muffins. I'll destination drive from my Woodland Hills home over an hour for the perfect muffin if it means making her birthday that much more special. Though keeping it under a 2 hour drive is preferred.
Where's the best blueberry muffin and how far will this journey take me?
A nice place to eat at -or extremely near- Universal Studios?
I was just at Caioti Pizza Cafe about a week ago for a similar reason. I wanted to eat someplace close to Universal Studios that wasn't in Universal CityWalk. For me Caioti fit the bill perfect for a nearby casual lunch before hitting CityWalk.

Where To Find "California Earthquake Potato Chips"
This is what I was going to say. At every Cost Plus I've ever been to I always see this brand.
Romantic Dinner near Balboa Island
Last time I took my girlfriend to Balboa Island for a "date day" we did dinner at Brasserie Pascal in Newport Beach. In the evening it was lovely, dim, and very romantic. As I recall we both did a $20 menu option that gave each of us an appetizer, entree, and dessert.

Good soup?
Whoops! Sorry to stir up bad memories. But hey, you could always make it at home, probably even better.
Good soup?
They just had that same soup and same focaccia last month. It was pretty good, and I didn't have to wait until March.
Hostess Chocodiles
A lot of 7-11's and gas station convenient stores tend to carry them. Also you could always try one of the Hostess Bakery outlets, which I know carry them.

Which Ice Cream with Banana Cream Pie?
I'm making a banana cream pie this weekend with a pretzel crust. I'm thinking of making some ice cream to go along with it, but I can't decide. Caramel was my first thought, or maybe brown sugar. What do you think?
Greek Food in Burbnk
Sure. I'll be the one driving so all I have to do is stear her in the right direction. I trust ya Das Ubergeek. Recommend away.
Greek Food in Burbnk
I'm in Burbank tomorrow night and my girlfriend is requesting Greek food. Preferably it would be somewhere with a relatively nice atmosphere, table service, and great hummus certainly doesn't hurt!
Italian Ice!
You beat me to it Das Ubergeek! I love their italian ice, and their soft serve has me melting in puddles of joy as well.
Best Burgers in Los Angeles
I wouldn't go as far to say it's the best burger in town, but I just had a great BUFFALO BURGER at BILLY'S GRILL in SHERMAN OAKS with a side of ONION RINGS.
Juicy burger with great grilled onions. The venison my friend ordered that I got a taste of tasted great as well. Next time though I'd forgo the cheese so I can really taste the meat, and I'd pass on the onion rings. They were OK rings (beer battered) but I think I'm more partial to breaded.
The place was also kinda pricey if you get the combo like I did. For the rings, drink, and the burger it cost me around $12. It was priced higher because it's exotic meat, but even their basic burger sans a combo is just under $7.
Uses for Maggi Seasoning
Thanks for the links. I did Google before coming here, and I did find and bookmark some options, but I just thought I'd throw a question out to the Chowhounder world to see what I'd come up with.
Uses for Maggi Seasoning
My girlfriend bought this huge bottle of Maggi Seasoning at Ranch 99 and we have no idea how to use it. She's familiar with it from growing up in a Chinese household, but I'm a total Maggi newbie. Any thoughts on ways we can make our way through this Costco sized bottle?
Don't Leave NY Without Eating...
I'm the original poster and I just noticed this thread suddenly came back alive. Regarding this comment on B&W cookies, I did have a spur of the moment one that I got from Zabar's. Did I like it?
Let's put it this way. I spent the entire day eating WAY too much and I had no intention of eating the entire thing so I cut off a corner...then I cut off another corner... then another... and before I knew it I'd eaten the entire thing.
My god I was full that day, but it was totally worth shoving that cookie in my face. Out of everything this I ate the entire trip this single B&W cookie was high ranking.
Pink's @ Knott's
I've lived in LA for my entire life and have never been to Pinks. I've always driven by, seen the lines, and gone, "no hot dog could be worth that." For my hot dog fix I'd go to the now defunct Weiner Factory, and in recent many months Fab's.
I still think I'll try Pink's one of these days just to get that LA experience that everyone talks about over with. Still though, the only way that will happen is if I drive by and see no line, which doesn't seem to be anytime soon.
