Bourdain in Baja

'I think I flew on that airline once back in the 70's' ...total cowboy mentality that is terribly missed...'keep calm and carry on', seemed to play over and over in the Modela/Pacifico haze on the 8 track loop while we averted a plane crash of epic proportions.

Bourdain in Baja

I would compare La Paz on par with Taos NOT Santa Fe...

I've been going to Cabo for over 30 years and sad that it used to be like La Paz but no more...you can go up the Cape to Buena Vista or on the other side, Todos Santos.

Back in the day, emergency crash landed in La Paz and they were saying 'Mayday' and I got the flight attendants to pass out all the beers to the patrons in the plane and if we were going down, we might as well have a cold one under our belt...we landed with tires blown but I was carried out over the shoulder by the Baja 1000 riders with the Captain leading the parade...ahhhhh, good ol' Mexico..hee hee

"Hitting" on the Waitress (server) Is it OK?

I usually end up with hugs to our busser, wait staff, chef and hostess...speaking Spanish and laughing and scratching.

I can't wait to dine with the beloved Hunt's...some day.

Love that Veggo!

Bourdain in Baja

with his drinking like he does, might be his little friend is back..

'Once Sabina Bandera gets to know you, she may just make you her specialty, a tostada slathered with hot sea urchin blended with pico de gallo and rosy slices of tender Pismo clam, fresh shucked avocado and chile sauce.'

That sea urchin with Pismo clams and avo looks out of this world good!

Bourdain in Baja

Love La Paz and after seeing Bourdain on his Baja journey last night, makes me want to get some KTM's and Dune buggies loaded up with lots of Pacifico's and hit the food stand where the Mariscos abuela was holding court in Ensenada for those fantastic looking ceviche tostadas and sea urchins things of beauty.

Veggo...we should do a 916 Memorial down the cape, since we are both born on the same day!

Seeing Someone Touch Your Food

'Preparers must put on gloves, when touching foods that are "ready-to-eat," foods that won't be cooked to kill any potential bacteria'

Seeing Someone Touch Your Food

For me, it's her flippant response 'we don't wear gloves here'...imho, she's an idiot and I would be calling the owner and the Health Department..

Good eats near Outrigger Reef (Oahu)

Aloha..
Outrigger is a great location and the Shorebird is a fun place to cook your own meal and always a good time.
Happy hour at Hula Grill/Duke's/Top of Waikiki/Rumfire at the Sheraton are excellent.
Hula has the best calamari and $4 mai tai's...everyday
Roy's Waikiki is one of the best resto's and please ask for Diva, the GM who is one of the most wonderful souls with so much Aloha..she will take good care of you!
Breakfast at Moose's on Lewer''s is pretty decent and get the 2 for 1 coupon in the back of the 101 things to do book.
Drinks at sunset at House without a key is a must and the Mai Tai bar at the Royal Hawaiian hotel.
When your driving around the island, Giovanni's for their crack addicted garlic shrimp is sublime and it's a food truck with a huge line but moves quick.
Shave Ice at Matsumoto's.
Leonard's for the beloved masalada..custard filling is my fave and the best deal when hiking up Diamond head is the fresh sliced pineapple for $3 at the food truck next to the bathrooms..
O'ahu is one of the best dining spots in the world and have a fantastic time!
Aloha

Garden Cafe (Poway) highly recommended

LOL...you got that right but thank goodness they have a red light camera at that intersection.
I want to try the grilled cheese with those hot chiles they give out but you have to ask for them..bet that is tasty.

Garden Cafe (Poway) highly recommended

I was responding to cstr on taking the meat off the pic of your sandwich which looked fab but mostly lettuce but for around $7 for a turkey sandwich is fair and look forward to trying it.
Wishing them all the best and can't wait to try them!

Garden Cafe (Poway) highly recommended

Not for $9 bucks I'm not..

Why do you continue shopping at CostCo? I am underwhelmed. What do you appreciate about the warehouse store?

Hi iL Divo!
I love Costco and there are a myriad of other things going on then just the warehouse.
Travel, tires, merchant services, gas, AMEX rebate program, optometry, RX..
I get most of my fresh seafood..(King Crab, Ahi, Salmon, Shrimp, Halibut)
Produce/cheese/wine and the deals on the orchids are incredible.

You can have 2 people on an account so you could split the membership with your DD.
I like the rebate program that covers my membership plus.
