Best Bloody Mary at Brunch?

I vote for Essex

NYC escapade

Not exactly Midtown but there is a great lunch spot in "Curry Hill" called Penelope - and they have a small bar (wine and beer only). Very cleverly prepared sandwiches and salads if you're looking to avoid your typical bar fare. It's at 159 Lexington Ave. at 30th street - very close to the 28th St. subway. I believe it's cash only as well.

overrated restaurants

I'm relatively new to the city so I haven't eaten at a lot of places but the absolute WORST place I have ever eaten was this 'kind of' famous place on 50th called Giambelli.

I don't care if the Pope ate there in 1984 or whatever, for an $80 lunch it was pathetic.

Josie's restaurants/Citrus - opinion?

I don't go to the Upper West often but I am a fan of Isabella's - lunch, brunch, dinner, a drink, anything. Their menu is very diverse with TONS of options - think upscale diner without the "diner" element. Columbus @77th.

They also have a "Sunset menu" served from 4-5:30 mon - fri, 4-5 sat, 4:30-5:30 sun with even more options.

Mothers day brunch

Annie's
3rd Ave. b/w 78th and 79th.
They don't take reservations but for Mother's Day call them up and see what the deal is because if it's a free-for-all expect to wait a LONG time

Another place on the UES - although I'm not particulary fond of it - is Panorama Cafe (2nd @85th). They have outdoor seating. It's good food; I just think it's a bit overpriced and one time my Bloody Mary tasted like kerosene.

My pick for a party atmosphere for brunch would be Essex (120 Essex St. @ Rivington). I've had 2/3 of what's on the menu and I'm impressed every time.

Thai In Manhattan

I agree Jasmine is a nice dine-in Thai restaurant. For delivery I call Luscious Thai (1st b/w 60 & 61st) - they are fast!

Need a fun place in the E50's

I've always liked Divine Bar East on 51st b/w 2nd & 3rd. Bar downstairs, tapas and pretty good wine list upstairs. Go early though - this place can get packed.

Sardi's suggestions?

Steak! Steak!

Mid-Upper East Side Restaurant Suggestion

I absolutely love Luna Piena

But I order the same thing every time - their home made cavatelli with meat sauce. Try Pescatore right around the corner for seafood and Mama Mexico on 50th is very good as well - if a little loud.

Manhattan Neighborhood Italian Gems

What's your go-to Italian restaurant for a nice quick dinner - delivery, take out, or dine in?

Mine are

UES - Gino's (83rd b/w 1st/2nd)
Midtown - Vinci's (1st @ 62nd)

Looking for Incredible Italian Food

Il Pallazo (Little Italy) or Erminia (UES)

One Night In Manhattan

OK you got me. I haven't been there in a while either (Cub Room). But I had a good steak there, the bar is nice and it's got a good decor. Obviously lots of better places to get a steak but I thought the menu had lots of seafood choices in addition to the steaks.

Last Minute Birthday Party for 15

You could try Trattoria Dopo Teatro at W. 44th and 6th

www.dopoteatro.com

Or Osso Bucco downtown (University Place)

Sorry no bonus points

15+ is pretty difficult on a Friday. For "Cool and unique" and your number of guests....I'm hard-pressed to think of places that can handle that kind of short notice.

Mid-town spot for after-work drinks w/ large group

Sutton Place!

Rooftop bar
(1015 2nd Ave) it's in the low 50s
Tons of bars around there.

Bang for the buck lunch spots

Naples 45 (200 Park Ave - Grand Central) has pizza slices for $1.35 after 2:00 PM

Suggestions for week long visit- E 91st St

I agree with Guts, head down into the 80s and you'll have tons of choices. If you can get a table try J.G. Melon for lunch (great burgers) in the mid-70s/3rd Ave.
Cash only though.

Or....

Try Hanratty's and post your experience! (97th/Madison) - I've wanted to know what it's like!

One Night In Manhattan

Cub Room for dinner, come early for a drink at the bar and then hit SoHo.

Splurge dinner (boss is paying)

$$$ is no object?

Cafe des Artistes

nyc dinner spot for a special reunion of girlfriends

If you like authentic Mexican food Mama Mexico in midtown is a good choice for a party. Good selection and price range. Strong margaritas. And Mariachi band!

If you want a more traditional place try Pescatore (Seafood) or Luna Piena (Italian), also both in midtown.
