Miami Beach Updates?

We just got back from Miami Beach. We ate at the Days Inn for shabbos dinner which has a new restaurant, Europa. Also, as an FYI the prices for shabbos seemed to have gone up at least $5 per person per meal since we were there last year. The new restaurant on 41st I believe in the same location as Sam's is Pistachio Gourmet Grill but we did not eat there.

Miami Beach Pre-Paid Shabbat Meals - update

We tried calling 41 on the Bay (the new Tower 41 place) numerous times but no one ever got back to us. Rare Steakhouse indicated that beginning November 27 they will begin doing Friday night meals only. They are charging $65 for Friday night which seems way more than others. Eden Roc doesn't do any kosher meals (only during Pesach do they have meals as I understand it). The place at Carriage Club is called China Kikar Tel Aviv. Each individual meal is $55 or if you get both shabbos meals it is $100 a person.

Miami Beach Pre-Paid Shabbat Meals - update

I called and China Kikar Tel Aviv still has pre-paid shabbos meals. They said it was $55/person/meal or $100/person for both meals. We left a message for the Tower 41 caterer and I'll let you all know when we hear back. Thanks for your help.

We'll be going over Thanksgiving. Do you know the name of the new Tower 41 caterer. I'll try there and Rare. Thanks for the advise.

Miami Beach Pre-Paid Shabbat Meals - update

Hello all,
My husband and I are going to Miami Beach next month (staying at the Eden Roc on Collins). Last time we were there we went to Tower 41 for their pre-paid shabbos meals but when we called they said they were no longer doing it. They said they thought Prime was doing it but the only Prime nearby I could find was a dairy sushi place. Know of any other restaurants in that area that do pre-paid shabbos meals? Thanks so much for your help!!

Detroit to Columbus

Yep last erev shabbos was crazy rain in Detroit. If you are in Detroit again with the same predicament, Chef Cari (a Detroit caterer under the VAAD) started a similar counter service as Unique located in Farm Fresh supermarket (on corner of Collidge and 10 Mile). She has similar items to Unique but a little less hemishe food and she also has breads and baked goods. You may want to check it out next time you are in Detroit.

Unique, the place next to Zeiman's, has carryout food by weight. You can choose from whatever is available at the counter (shnitzel, grilled chicken, sides, etc.) then they weigh it out and charge you based on the weight. They may be slightly more expensive then Rami's. Rami's just started (like this week) doing shabbos meals so I have no clue what their shabbos packages may be like but the owner Rami will probably be more than willing to accomodate whatever you need.

Rami's just started doing take-out shabbos meals (in Oak Park, MI). You can check out their website at www.ramiskosher.com.

Kosher in Charleston, SC

We loved, loved, loved the B&B in Charleston when I husband and I just went there this past 4th of July. The proprietor, Hadassah, is so sweet and her cooking is amazing. While staying at the B&B you get a huge, hot breakfast each morning and shabbos meals. She did say she was in the process of opening a restaurant near the B&B; not sure if she has an opening date yet.

My husband and I stayed at the Hadassah's B&B for 4th of July weekend. It was a wonderful trip and I would highly, highly recommend staying there. You'll get a huge, hot breakfast every morning plus shabbos meals. There is also a kosher (cholov stam) ice cream shop and bakery in Charleston. The Publix has a wide variety for kosher food you can buy if you decide to cook meals. The B&B has a kosher, dairy kitchen you can use and Hadassah re-koshers it after every guest. We also went to Myrtle Beach on our trip. There is a meat and a dairy restaurant there. Both were pretty good but had odd hours in the slow summer months.

kosher lifesaver candies

I've seen kosher O-U lifesavers at Trader Joe's. Lifesaver is not the brand, it's a Trader Joe brand, but they look just like lifesavers. I think I saw them 3-4 months ago so I am not sure if it is product they always carry or if it was a promotion. Ask them and see.

Miami Beach Update

Thanks for all your suggestions. I made some phone calls and just wanted to pass along the info that I found out.

My husband called Sam's and they said they only do carryout shabbos meals. After calling the other pre-paid shabbos restaurants we decided to go to Tower 41 as it was the cheapest and everyone we asked said the food was good. It's $45/person which includes tax and tip and everywhere else we called started at $50/person. Another plus is that there is a minyan there for maariv and shacharis and they allow the ladies to light right there at the restaurant which makes things much eaiser that trying to figure out where I can light at the hotel.

As far as restuarants while we are there, I was thinking of doing Grill Time one night for dinner and Cine Citte motzei shabbos. Any other restaurants you suggest are "can't miss places" for us to go to while we are in Miami? We are coming from the Midwest in a town where there are very limited kosher restaurants, so we want to make sure we go to the good places while we are in a town that actually has kosher restaurants.

Thanks for all your help!!

Miami Beach Update

Are the pre-paid shabbos meals at Sam's at the restaurant or take out? My husband and I are planning a trip to Miami in November for our anniversary and were planning on just going to Tower 41 for shabbos but if there is an even nicer place, we'd love that. Also UWSFoodie out of curiosity where did you stay while you were in Miami Beach? We want a hotel that is close of enough in walking distance to pre-paid shabbos meals and for my husband to get to minyan. Sorry but we are from the Midwest and neither of us have ever been to Miami so we are looking for any suggestions we could get. Thanks!
