BRUNCH BEFORE GIANTS VS SAINTS GAME
Luke is great pregame atmosphere. Great New Orleans music and awesome food and locally brewed beers. Not a far walk to the dome. And you can make a reservation!
New Orleans Thursday the 19th early dinner with Family
Not a NO classic yet, but try Luke on St Charles, a few blocks up from the quarter. Especially if you are going early. Food is fantastic and easy to bring the kids to. It gets packed later in the evening but 6pm should be fine.

Jacques Imo's tonight!
That's not a walk, that's a marathon. I really enjoy everything at Jacques Imo's, epecially their seafood dishes. I could easily make a meal out of the sides. They used to let you wait at the Maple Leaf and come get you when your table is ready. Do they still do that?
Alex Patout in Miami
I love Alex Patout's cooking. It is very true cajun recipes with his distinct stamp. I loved his restaurant here. Good luck to him!!!! Hope you enjoy some good Cajun cookin'!
La Petite Grocery
Give me a break. The wine reps are in every restaurant every day. There is no reason for any restauant to have an excuse for a bad wine list.
Shopping for Spices, Sauces, etc.
Some of the shops on the sides of the French Market have great hot sauces and mixes. There is a sweet potato pancake mix from Bruce's Foods thats fun. Go visit Avery Island, home of Tabasco, when you are in New Iberia. Its beautiful and you can get every flavor of Tabasco ever made. If you want to make a drive from NI, there is a restaurant in the casino near Franklin. Its called Mr. Lesters. A bit in the country but its wonderful.
Domilise's Po Boys - did it reopen?
Just ate lunch there. Be ready to wait. It took us 45 minutes to order, but its the best Leidenhiemer bread.
Restaurants for Surprise Anniversary Weekend in New Orleans
August is open for Friday Lunch. Its great food if you just want a tasting of what the chef has to offer. But dinner is to die for. The service is great and you certainly will enjoy the whole experience.

Really, I've never had anything that wasn't excelent there. Looking at the responses, I think everyone agrees.

Dick & Jenny's does not offer reservations, so be ready to wait. You can enjoy a nice bottle of wine while you wait, I still love Upperline.
August or Luke for dinner?
August is one of the best restaurants in the nation (#8 if I am not mistaken)!!! I am so suprised you did not enjoy it. As the Jame Beard award winner last year, his food is innovative, absolutely delicious and the presentation is beautiful. The restaurant is more formal than Luke. Luke has a more relaxed atmosphere, great food at good prices. I say Luke for a laid back night, August for a dining experience you won't forget.

Yes, the service has been the same. I have had dinner twice and lunch once. They opened last Tues and the food has been great every time. I've seen the same customers that I met on opening night.
Luke Last Night
I had the complete opposite experience. I was staying in the hotel and dined the first night Luke opened. The service was good, and the atmosphere was excellent. The timing was fine and the food made up for any hiccups in service that are excpected on opening night. From the Crabmeat Maison to the Shrimp Farci, everything was delicious. I loved the nostalgic old New Orleans feeling of pouring my own wine from the carafe into the small glasses. I have become a repeat customer and things have gotten better every time.
