Searching for pizza in the Bronx...

My favorite in the Bronx is Louie and Ernie's on Crosby and Waterbury. Also try there fried calzone. Closer to you in Yonkers is Catania pizza in that little shopping center across from Nathan's. They were really good.

Italian Restaurant for old timer

A good old school Italian restaurant is New Corner's in Bayridge. I believe 8th avenue but I'm not exactly sure. They do have a website, not sure how to post it.

Luca's restaurant, Bergen County?

I went to Luka's last saturday night and itwas EXCELLENT as always. It is my favorite Italian restaurant in North Jersey. Try the Gnochi Bolognese!

Old, traditional bakeries/pastry shops that still exist

If you ever head over to the Bronx go to Little Italy, Arthur Ave. There is Egidio's, Delillo's, Gino's, Artuso's, Palombo's, Morrone's which are more oriented towards pastries and cakes and then you have Madonia Bros. and Addeo bakeries which are more geared to bread making.

On Allerton Ave. you have Sal and Dom's Pastry shop which is personally my favorite. The best cannolis and rainbow cookies. Heading towards the Morris Park neighborhood, there is another Morrone's pastry shop and Enrico's pastry shop. .

Is there good Chinese anywhere?

Green Dragon is basically old school and thats what I love! All the good dishes. They did expand to serve sushi, I believe they did that when things were slowing down, but their Cantonese is very good again. Great Mai Tai's too!

I tried Golden Gate from reading the reviews from this site, and I liked it. If I lived closer I would eat there often, good old school Chinese.

I highly reccomend King Yum on Union Turnpike in Queens for good Cantonese.

[HOU] Any good old school Chinese/Cantonese restaurants??

I am looking for GOOD old school Chinese/Cantonese food in the Houston area and vicinity,(Humble, Kingwood, Porter,etc..) The kind of places that serve yummy wonton soup, egg-foo-young, fried rice, the real stuff!! I am from NYC and will be visiting friends that live down there who are former New Yorkers themselves. I am NOT looking for Thai, Vietnamese, Japenese, sushi, buffet chinese, etc., just good old school Cantonese. Any reccomendations is appreciated. Thankyou fellow chowhounders!

ITALIAN run restaurants in NJ...Where?

This weekend I ate at Trattoria La Sorrentina in North Bergan which was absolutely AMAZING!!! Being from the Bronx, I LOVE this place. Excellent sauce, pizza, pasta, riceballs. I will be back here!!!!

Good Italian in S. Hackensack?

My favorite in that area is Luka's Italian restaurant in Ridgefield Park. Its not to far from the Marriot. Its on Queen Ann Road as you head into Ridgefield park from Teaneck.

Baumgart's- What's Good?

Just go for the ice cream!

Looking for Italian in Burbank?

I want to thank everyone who helped me with this. I do want to add that we went to MONTE CARLO for lunch one day and it was ok, however the supermarket part of it was impressive. We also ate at Bella Vista which I enjoyed. It reminded me of an old Italian place that has not been modernized since the day they opened,(Im assuming at least 30+ years ago) which has a charm unto itself. Lastly we ate at Vitello's which was quite impressive as well. I must say that these places were better than expected.

Is there good Chinese anywhere?

What the hell ever happened to Green Dragon in the Bronx?? They used to be pretty outstanding. A decent alternative to Tung Hoy in Larchmont (now closed RIP). I ordered shrimp fried rice which was dry, lacked any flavor and was less than your standard cookie cutter-formula-take out crap. They really seemed to have given up, I almost want to say something to them. New chefs? new managemwent? no quality control? A big dissapointment.

Chinese American in Chinatown Flushing for sit down or take out?

Right on Union Turnpike east of St. Johns is King Yum. I went there abot a month ago for the first time, it was awsome. Its the old school Chinese food your looking for,TRUST ME. I had there Dim Sum, egg foo young, wanton soup. Im in the Bronx and I will go there for my Cantonese fix!! The place is old Polynesian themed probably never redocorated since they opened. I would compare trhe flavor to the now closed Tung Hoy of Larchmont when they were operating at their best. Hope this helps.

Bronx sit-down Chinese?

I went to Golden Gate today for lunch after reading about good reviews from this site. The food is excellent. Its nice to find a good old school place, unlike all the cookie-cutter take-out joints that are everywhere. Another good place to try is Green Dragon on East Tremont ave. in the Throggs Neck section.

Authentic Italian needed (Baltimore)!

I've been to Amicci's, Caesars Den, Da Mimmo and Sabatino's. My favorite is Sabatinos. Being a fan of gnochi, they always made the best. Their atmosphere is great too.

Anything good near Tenafly? [Moved from Mid-Atlantic Board]

Samdam IS INCREDIBLE. Try there shepard salad, kebab, Samdam special (chicken in a wine cream sauce). Best Baklava I ever tasted.

New Jersey Pizza

I enjoy going to Lodi Pizza on Rt 46 west in Lodi. Slices are delicious. Try the Sicillian.

If I could eat at only 1 Italian Rest in Brooklyn . . .

I would check out Ferdinando's on Union street for traditional Sicillian cusine. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere!
