Peeled and finely chopped ginger vs. ground So, here's my question: The Asian chicken recipe I have calls for "3 tablespoons peeled and finely chopped fresh ginger (from 1 [3- to 4-inch] piece)" but I'd prefer to use ground ginger since it's easier. What would the equivalent amount of ground ginger be for the recipe's recommended amount of finely chopped ginger? Thanks! |

Hi. I'm looking to buy a French Roast and I live in Manhattan. I was hoping to have Glatt Mart deliver it (since I figured it be less expensive than a Manhattan meat mkt) but they didn't appear to list that cut of beef on their web site. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

Will be staying in downtown Chicago for the weekend and while I'm covered for Shabbos meals, was wondering if there's any local kosher place to pick b-fast and lunch on Friday, Sunday and Monday in that area since I wont have a car. Thanks. |

KOSHER CATERED VEGAN SHABBAT MEALS IN NYC AREA I'm having some guests for Shabbat in a few weeks who are both vegan and strictly kosher. So, I'm looking for a caterer/restaurant/take out place from whom I could order in both the Friday night and Saturday afternoon meals. Problem is, I live in Manahttan and the only vegan-type places that I'm aware of are Indian but they tend to be open on Shabbat. Any alternative suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

I'm hosting my family (six all together) for Shabbos in Manhattan and was considering ordering in both Shabbos meals but did not want to pay Manhattan kosher take out prices but without sacrificing decent presentation and taste. I heard about something called Avi Glatt which is based in Brooklyn but has free delivery to Manhattan. i was curious if anyone had ever used them and what they thought. Thanks. |

ZUMA BEACH CLUB (inside Deal Casino) Does anyone know if there is still a kosher restaurant inside the Deal Casino in Deal, New Jersey? I recall a few years ago that Prime Grill had been running their restaurant at the Zuma Beach Club, with gret views of the ocean, but not sure if it's still open. Any recent info. would be appreciated. |

Looking for Cheap Shabbos/Weekend Food My cousin is getting married so six guys are taking him to a cabin outside of NYC for the weekend before the wedding. I was asked to research kosher take out/catering places in the New York area that can provide food from Friday night thru Sunday lunch that they just have to heat up and serve . The group has only about $400.00 to spend on food so they're looking for an inexpensive place in the New York area where they could tell the place what the budget is and the place could come up with a menu they could provide for the meals. The group is not looking for gourmet or upscale -- just reliably kosher, cheap, enough to feed seven guys for the weekend from Friday night thru Sunday afternoon. Is this realistic at all? If so, any suggestions? |

So, I'm invited to this bar mitzvah in Riverdale which will be serving a non-kosher Saturday lunch of poached salmon, wild rice, salads, etc.. The hostess is inviting three other kosher guests including me and has asked me what Kosher food should she order and from whom. I suggested that she try to match the food everyone else s having (and also because salmon, rice, etc., can be served cold, etc.). As for from where, I don't live in Riverdale so, I don't have a clue. Does anyone have any suggested establishments that I could recommend that she order such fare from that can be delivered the day before and where the food will both taste and look classy? |

Thanksgiving Dinner in Lakewood, N.J. I'm trying this one more time -- since I've, much to my distress, have received no responses up to this point. My family has given me the unenviable task of trying to come up with a restaurant in Lakewood (an area with which I am unfamiliar) in which we can have Thanksgiving dinner. The requirements, you ask? 1) Nice upscale ambience/atmoshphere 2) Reasonable prices (we went to 656 Ocean in Deal, N.J. last year and they found it to be beautiful but way too expensive) 3) Serves turkey at least on that day (for those few American "traditionalists" amongst us). Does anyone have ANY good suggestions since I'm gettin desperate here! Thanks so much. |

"On the Grill" - Lakewood, N.J. Was looking for a nice reasonably priced place in Lakewood to take the family for Thanksgiving dinner and someone had mentioned On the Grill. Anyone have an opinion? Do you know if they do turkey? I was also told about a new place called Pomegranate on that community -- would that fit the bill? |
