Jamaican Patty Shaper and Sealer
Chrissys, I got one like the first one youdonut listed and I hate it. I got it from Tap Phong but you can have mine. Seriously... I ended up using it to cut out the circle and crimped by hand. Not only did I get in more filling, the edge was more secure and the process faster and less messy.
Best nabeyaki udon in Toronto?
I disliked udon in general until I had Ematei version. I had it there again last month and its still as I remembered it.
What happened to Le Papillon on Front?
As a side note, galettes are made with buckwheat and tend to savoury, whereas crepes are wheat flour based and typically sweet. Could it be that the items in question are not actually the same (crepe) items you had prior?
Theee best crispy beef in the GTA
Aww Yongeman, I went there last night and the beef was indeed crispy and oil free but the honey spicy sauce was not nearly spicy, nor was there enough sauceto give flavour to the dish. I also wish the sauce was evenly distributed... Anyways, that was the first and last time I'll likely visit Hong Shing, but now I realize how good Spicy Crispy Beef could be if done well.
What are you baking these days? April 2012 [old]
Where can I find that empanada recipe?!
Karine's in Grange Mall- not so much
I tried it years ago on NOW review and regretted it. Same situation as you described, yet the place is busy everytime I've seen it... I don't get it either.
Where to buy Chobani yoghurt in Toronto?
I got a big tub of the fat free at that Loblaws to try because of all the ads and I thought it was pretty chalky and overall ick. I eat mine with other things so I still finished the tub but I prefer Liberte or PC.
Lunch / Take-out near Eaton Centre...anything worth having?
Don't forget the sweet potato date muffin!
Lunch / Take-out near Eaton Centre...anything worth having?
When in the area I almost always get the vegetarian platter there because he fries the falafel fresh for each order.
Where can I get high quality cinnamon (for cinnamon buns)?
wow - what a great site!
Thanks BusterRhino for posting about this.
I'm definitely putting in an order.
ISO Crepe dishes!
Not sure but have a look here.

A new crepe place just opened on Church and Maitland called Crepe Masters Cafe, though I haven't tried yet...
Lucky peach issue #1 in Toronto?
Type Books opposite Trinity Bellwoods has them too.
Liberte Greek Yogurt
I've only seen the Oikos plain in 9-10% MF. Only the fruit/honey flavours are %
Best Churrasco Chicken?
Inigo is more roast chicken than churrasco. For my taste, I find it adequately salty. The chicken has always been really juicy and the sides are light and more "gourmet" than a typical churrasco.
Eaton Centre Food Court - new and expanded with interesting options
I tried Amaya Express last month and got a bowl of rice with chicken curry (pepper pot?) for somewhere around 8 bucks. I quite liked it and felt the spiciness was perfect (hotter than I would have expected for the mall). The set up was nice with orange LeCreuset pots in the front.
The muffins at Urban Herbivore were as good as ever so I'm thankful for their addition to the food court.
The gelato place right near them was laughable. I forget the name or it, but a tiny scoop is four dollars and the espresso flavour weak. Total waste of money.

Conscious food festival - 2011 (August 13 and August 14) - Fork York, Toronto
thanks for that bustercat628.
I hope ppl take advantage as it was generous of the Grid, but
to be honest, I'm kinda miffed that I supported them and now to get "a free gift" i have to go back. Not very convenient and w/o nowing what it is, I don't think I'll go out of my way.
Conscious food festival - 2011 (August 13 and August 14) - Fork York, Toronto
went today at 5ish...
nice spacious venue, perfect weather and helpful staff. large compost/garbage/recycle containers too.
the live music was good
the event itself wasn't too busy and the washing/toilet facilities were clean w/o lines
food tickets were $1 each and most places offered stuff for about $3 and up. $1 for taste size samples.
winners:
hey meatball, meatball slider for $4 - nice sauce and juicy pork sausage
hooked, fried smelts, 2 for $3 - fresh from the fryer in a super crunchy beer batter
the grindhouse, smoked beef taco for $4 - not much smokiness for all the smoke coming from the tent but meat was good and they fried the hard tacos shells.
forget the name...cajun fish tacos for $4 - good combo of flavours. fish wasn't fried but rather flaked and mixed with seasoning.
losers:
lemonade w/ stevia, small for $3 - meh
canadian pie co, pies for $2 each, wild mushroom pie (pretty bland and boring), spinach and goat cheese pie (ok), portuguese egg tart (much fluffier than a nata but the best of the 3). overall way too much crust to filling ratio.
yogalicious, $1 sample of frozen kefir (icy texture and unpleasant watery sourness)
forget the name... pineapple beer $1 sample, truly awful and bitter. neither of us wanted anything to do with this.
other notes:
enoteca sociale/libretto was MIA according to the info staff and apparently I wasn't the only one disappointed.
Didn't see Marben - rather it looked like Pangaea had 2 booths from the signage (steamed halibut on ratatouille and a smoked salmon crostini).
The Mapleton Ice cream looked good but didn't try.
Didn't try the free wine taste as we were a minute too late.
Other vendors included Chocosol, a farm vegetable vendor, Hippy Chips, Buddha Dog, All the Best (hors d'oeuvre and tarts), The Grid (tomato tarts), someone had turkey sausage, a salad booth, Vodka and beer booths...
Water wasn't free. That bothered me.
We attended with a Groupon deal. While I enjoyed the outing, I think the $20 at the door price plus the cost of food would not have been worth it.

Favorite Brand of Whole Wheat Pasta?
i find it at a lot of grocery stores like Metro, Loblaws has the reg but i think some locations the whole wheat too. I'm pretty sure Grande Cheese and Johnvince carry it as well
new ice cream place in Kensington Market
Agree with num nums that the waffle chip samples were nice...
We heard the pistachio was good so we wanted to try other flavours. After sampling the cherry, we decided against it. The chunks of fruit were enticing but the pepto bismol colour made us need to try before committing. Luckily we did, because I didn't like the sweetness and the odd aftertaste (maybe too much almond extract or the chemical colouring?) Instead we got strawberry and chocolate in a waffle bowl. Despite sharing a 2 scoop waffle bowl of ice cream we were not impressed enough to finish it. The flavours were either too sweet or a bit dull.
The server made us a fresh waffle bowl which was really nice. Service overall was friendly and generous. The decor is attractively plain and the sign/logo retro cute.
Menchies Frozen Yogurt on Bloor Street...Super Nice folks, adorable mascot...I really wanted to like it.
Of the 4 in the area, Menchies, Yoyo's, MonBerri and CeFiori, I think MonBerri is the best followed but CeFiori. These two don't have self serve toppings like Menchies and Yoyo's but at least the yogurt tastes like yogurt.
For the best soft serve ice cream, hands down, it's Tom's Dairy Freeze on the Queensway.
