Best place to buy a ham - Mainline area or Center City

I had the best ham ever at a holiday party this year. It was from Meadow Run Farm, a Lancaster County farm that sells humanely raised meats. If you plan ahead, you can order through the buying club at Farm to City.

Stores for craft beer and nice wine?

If you want to sample local brews, you can buy beer by the case at both Philadelphia Brewing Company and Yards Brewing Company in Kensignton. Both offer Saturday tours and tasings and are worth the trip for beer lovers.

Joseph Poon Chef Kitchen

We went to Joseph Poon for Center City Restaurant Week tonight and had our best RW experience in six years. Definitely recommend it if you want good food and interaction with the chef but don't care as much about the ambiance (the setting is the site of his cooking classes and pretty industrial in feel).

The usual three-course RW menu stretched into four courses - and closer to eight if you count the separate preparations for the lobster and meat courses. Everything was great and we really enjoyed interacting with Chef Poon between courses. Really good value too - the second course included the equivalent of one small lobster per person. First course included a duck roll that wasn't on the menu but tasted great. The dessert course was a sampler with three tastes, each better than the next.

He's donating all RW profits to Haiti relief right now too, so you can eat well and feel good about it.

Looking for Philly BYOB Where 2 Can Eat for $70 or less

I know there are lots of threads on here rating BYOBS, but not many of them mention cost. Since many of the highly-rated BYOBs don't have their own websites with menu postings (or the online menus don't list prices), I'm in the dark about how expensive they are.

I'm looking for a spot where we can celebrate our anniversary. We don't want to spend more than $70, including tax and tip. We're open to any neighborhood and any kind of cuisine, as long as the food is high quality. One of us only eats fish and veggie options - no beef, chicken or pork. We're particularly fond of places that feature local, seasonal ingredients.

Any suggestions?

Do Ramps grow in Pennsylvania ?

The Fair Food Farmstand is getting an order of ramps on Saturday from Tuscarora Organics Growers Co-Op. If you want to know when they've got stuff like this in stock, sign up for their e-mail list at the stand: they send a list of the week's items every Thursday.
