Market Shoppers: Get out of the quick check out line. You have too many items...

You don't think produce takes a long time to key in? I make a point of selecting produce with stickers so the cashier doesn't have to look up the code, but it still takes them forever, especially if they make a mistake keying it in and have to fix it. My cart full of produce takes a lot longer than a cart full of boxes and cans.

Market Shoppers: Get out of the quick check out line. You have too many items...

Last week, the customer in front of me at Walmart had 96 cans of identical cat food, and 48 identical cans of a different type. The cashier rang them in individually. Yes, they were exactly the same can. The customer pointed it out to her, the cashier agreed, and I had lots of time to verify for myself while she was scanning them one at a time. Her name tag said she had worked there for 5 years, can't imagine she didn't know to use the quantity button. That's what I get for going to Walmart.

Exactly. The speed of the express line is a myth. One transaction of 20 items is a lot faster than 4 transactions of 5 items. I'd rather get behind one person with a full cart. Unless it is full of produce, which all has to be keyed in.

Bring your shopping cart back where it belongs, please!

Sockii said responsibility FOR, not responsibility TO. Surely you can see the difference.

Additional charges that seem unjustified that the establishment might think twice about

Exactly, and each additional thing they do - handle my luggage, provide me with food - I pay for. If I don't want it, I shouldn't have to pay for it just to subsidize those who do want it.

I don't want to watch you eat without cutlery or napkins.

No, as long as I comply with the airline's rules, I can take a bag in the cabin that weighs the same as a bag other people check. I don't pay the airline to handle it for me, because they're not providing a service.

Well that's descending into the ridiculous. There are basic things that go into the item purchased - like cutlery, and a seat on the plane. You can't eat (or fly) without them. You can fly without luggage, so why pay for it if you don't use it?

And people who don't want them would prefer not to pay for them. It's like a la carte pricing on airlines. I don't check luggage, so why should it be included in my ticket price?

This was how every store did it in my childhood; have you seriously never seen this before?

So who is bringing the carts from the corral into the store?

Cronuts at Dunkin' Donuts?

I won't stand in line, either, but I was able to pre-order one a few weeks ago, and OMG was it delicious. Check out the DA website for instructions on pre-ordering.

Anyone here follow the Eat Right For Your Blood Type diet?

My hippy former stepson said he felt so much better after going on the Blood Type Diet. I pointed out that the Diet recommends "If you are this blood type, eat broccoli" "If you are this blood type, eat lean meat". Of course he felt better; none of the blood types are advised to eat potato chips.

Bareburger East Coast chain

My one trip to Bareburger left me unimpressed. Expensive, as noted. And they butter the buns inside and out before toasting, so you end up with greasy fingers, yet they bring you only one paper napkin.

Grub Street Food Festival

Sadly, I started my vacation with a stomach bug, or maybe food poisoning, so I was slowly regaining my appetite and didn't want to attempt anything highly spiced. I wanted Mac 'n Cheese, so circled the vendors to see who was offering it, then chose Delaney. (Another vendor had Lobster Mac 'n Cheese, a no go for me even when healthy). I expect a BBQ joint to offer side dishes that are equal to their meat, not simply as an after thought.

Delaney Barbecue - absolutely awful mac and cheese. Grainy, watery sauce, and barely lukewarm. Little tiny cup for $7. I wish I had spent the cash and calories on something else.

Trader Joes return - Do I need a receipt?

Trader Joes return - Do I need a receipt?

A well meaning friend gave me sugar free chocolate almonds from TJ. Seems a shame to throw them away, but I know without opening them that I won't enjoy. Can I take them back to get some real chocolate : ) ? They're Timothy's Confection, rather than TJ's brand, if that makes a difference in showing that they were purchased there.

Feedback for my draft itinerary

I'll elaborate on my distaste for Two If By Sea. Their pastries are big blobs of greasy dough, raw in the middle. Their coffee is not exceptional, but passable. The worst, perhaps, is their Too Cool For School service. I once ordered a latte, specifying skim milk. I tasted it and said it didn't taste like skim. The waiter said "Oh, yeah, we don't have skim milk." Apparently, the customer doesn't need to be told that when they order. On more than one occasion, the waiter has looked past me and served his friends, who were in line behind me. I find it all too cliquesh and junior high for my taste.

Two if By Sea is not good. You should have a back up plan for breakfast at Coastal, it's very hard to get a seat, particularly given that it's a holiday weekend and the students will be back in town.

How much do I tip? How much should I tip? How much do YOU tip? etc.... [moved from Ontario board]

Most provinces do NOT have a different minimum wage for tipped vs non-tipped workers, and in those that do the difference is less than a dollar. It's not like the US where food servers can be legally paid less than $3 an hour.

I believe you are thinking of the diner that used to be near the entrance to the Blomidon Look Off/Cape Split. The name escapes me, but it closed several years ago. Perhaps DeeDee's?

Places to eat w/kids and advice on activities

Yeah, Tripadvisor is full of posts from parents who don't understand why people who pay hundreds of dollars for Broadway tickets don't want to share the experience with infants and toddlers. All Broadway theaters have age limits for entrance. Even children's shows like Annie have an age limit.
