Non touristy in central Paris. Impossible?
Tell Daniel I once flambeed my menu at Spiaggia in his former town, Chicago. People across held their plastic-coated epistles high, I went low, and the candle went "ignite".
I need new bistros in Paris
Merci, Parigi, I concur with your assessment of food & fun....I don't like stuffy. Next trip I'll dine at Frenchie, Cartouche, Quincy, & L'Epigramme & hopefully Spring. I'll be watching for Spring's official opening and reviews.
Non touristy in central Paris. Impossible?
Wonderful! I've been devouring every word of your website in anticipation of my next trip. Thank you for such an immensely enjoyable & edifying site.
So I'm assuming the new Daniel Rose Spring will be larger?
Le Comptoir du relais- Paris
MEDIOCRE!! I'll never go back. There are so many fabulous restaurants in Paris; do not waste your time on this one.
Has Daniel Rose's new SPRING opened yet? Watch for it.
I adored Perraudin & dream of their tiny cheese raviolis in frommage blanc sauce. It is the perfect Paris Bistro and the 2 brothers that own it, charming.
I need new bistros in Paris
Perraudin; they have my current "crave dish"...tiny raviolis in frommage blanc that are DIVINE. My fav bistro.
Non touristy in central Paris. Impossible?
Merci beaucoup, Parigi. My only disappointment was that Daniel Rose's Spring was not open when I was there in September, so next time! Is it as wonderful as I'm expecting??

Exit Willi's to the right & turn left on next street for restaurant Grand Colbert on right featured in "As Good as it Gets" scene w/Nicholson & Keaton.
AVOID Casa Bini, rue Gregoire du Tours, expensive & mediocre food...(even if Deneuve is supposed to be a regular) Pasta was infinitely better at Pizza Positano.
BEST MACARONS: Pierre Herme, 72 rue Bonaparte,6th.
WORST meals: Le Comptoir du Relais, resting on Yves laurels. AVOID.
Ditto for Atelier Maitre Albert, one of Guy Savoy's, AVOID.

Report on a wonderful week in Italy -- Long post
PeggyD-what a fabulously wonderful trip you had & one that you will never ever forget. Daughter of the Year! Your sweet mother & your Dad will be talking about their Italian trip for years! Now, we'll have to begin planning your next trip w/your son & husband.
I'm delighted that you loved Fiammetta. I would have their eggplant parm daily if I lived in Rome. So sorry you ended up at 3 stomachaches, there are some great places near the Vatican. But the red sauce at Fiammetta would pull me across the Tiber also. Fiammetta has an email address, ristorantefiammetta@libero.it for your next reservation.
Drop me an email kmmorg@comcast.net & I'll send you my Rome restaurants & Rome notes for your new Rome file. Sounds like you may have caught my addiction! Thanks for reporting so quickly--you've had many great thoughts sent your way. Give your sweet Mom a hug!
Nino's - Rome

Be still my beating heart...it's closed on MONDAYS! As we say in the South, Hot Damn! Owned by chef Marco Gallotta who put Gusto on the map, Massimo Terzulli & designer Roberto Paolucci. It says that Marco has local women "guest star" in his kitchen for 1 week a month...Nonna's kitchen. Bistro Feel, behind the Termini Station. Somebody GO & give us a report. Calling MBF, where are you?
Italy Restaurant Itinerary - Any additions?
Do head to Anacapri for Da Gelsomina...it's off the beaten track at the far right end of the island but truly magical. It's the spot my husband has requested for his last meal. Raviloi melts in your mouth, fantastic rabbit dish, views to die for. It's a 30 minute flat trek & worth every second of the journey. Hope you meet The Professor who owns Villa Marianna next door & The Capri Philosophical Park across the street, er...road path, (Da Gelsomina sells his "Meditation upon Western Wisdom". When he walked in the restaurant, my husband remarked, "I don't know who he is but I bet he's smart as s__t". Egads! Your IQ increases by osmosis. Anyway, I can't wait to return in September. So, please don't miss Cah-pree!
